Review summary

My dream ship lived up to the hype! My only regret is not doing the Ultimate Abyss sooner!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Easy peasy! When I cruised out of Bayonne in April, I had to wait outside IN THE COLD for 2 hours. This time, I pretty much waltzed onto the ship! I was already happily on my way before I even finished my mandatory E-Muster Drill.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
My favorite was the creme brulee!

Boleros Lounge

4 out of 5

I love this lounge, but because of the location, it was a little loud, to the point where you couldn't carry on a conversation.

Main Dining Room

4 out of 5

While the food and service were excellent, we like to be by a window. We requested this before booking abd this request wasn't met. We asked to change tables and the request still wasn't met.

Windjammer Marketplace

4 out of 5

Confusing, but they had a nice variety.

Sugar Beach℠ / Beach Shop

5 out of 5

Loved it!

El Loco Fresh℠

3 out of 5

It was OK, I had better Mexican food back home. They put refried beans on everything, which I'm not a fan of.

Sorrento's Pizza

5 out of 5

This venue is always a favorite of ours! They have THE BEST pizza FOR FREE!

Café Promenade

5 out of 5

Love the free cookies, especially the Coconut ones!

Johnny Rockets

5 out of 5

We had breakfast here, per request of my niece. She loved the ambiance. I've been to a few Jonnhy Rockets restaurants on land and loved it too!

Solarium Bistro

5 out of 5

My niece loved it! It's so much easier to navigate than the Windjammer!

Rising Tide Bar

4 out of 5

They need to make it more clear where the entrance is. Other than that, we loved it.

150 Central Park

4 out of 5

Loved the Rising Tide here, but it was confusing as to where the entrance was. They post the times on the OPPOSITE SIDE of the entrance!

Candy Beach

5 out of 5

We loved the candy in here and even took some home!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5

Center Ice Rink

5 out of 5

We saw "Frozen In Time" here and loved it! My niece had never seen an ice show before, and it became a favorite of hers!

Ultimate Abyss℠

5 out of 5

Our favorite venue! I'll admit, I was petrified at first. I rode it 7 times, my niece 15 times, and my parents 1 time each. I promise you it's not that bad: it's tamer than the waterslides! You're given a mat, which the staff will assist you with. You hang on to the loop and push yourself off. If needed, staff can give you a push. The ride starts 150 feet ABOVE SEA LEVEL and you end up 10 decks below on the Boardwalk. Staff watches you the entire time. It's over in 7 seconds and is quite relaxing! The only screams you'll hear are your own as you giggle the entire way down!

Boardwalk

5 out of 5

The Carousel is a MUST! I rode it a few times, but we couldn't get my niece off it the first few days!

Royal Promendade

4 out of 5

A bit loud but very nicely laid out!

The Perfect Storm℠ waterslide trio

5 out of 5

I rode the pink slide, my niece rode every slide multiple times. She loved it!

Zipline

5 out of 5

Way too short! But I loved it all the same!

Guest Services and Explorations!

5 out of 5

Fast and friendly, as always!

Beach Pool

4 out of 5

A little crowded for my taste, but not too bad.

Dunes Mini Golf

5 out of 5

We always christen the ship with a round of Mini Golf. The balls could be weighted a bit more but overall, we enjoyed it.

Carousel

5 out of 5

LOVED IT!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
"CATS", "Frozen In Time" and "Aqua 80" are a MUST!

Spotlight℠ Karaoke

5 out of 5

I love this venue! It's a tradition I do Kareoke at least once a cruise. This was my niece's first experience with Kareoke and she liked it.

Studio B

5 out of 5

Loved the ice show!

AquaTheater

4 out of 5

The Aqua 80 show is a MUST and I'm glad we did it, but I would have preferred to have that show offered earlier in the day. My cabin was right above the Boardwalk and we could hear THE ENTIRE SHOW every single night at 9 or 10PM when we're trying to sleep!

Theater

5 out of 5

We saw "CATS" here, which my 10-year old niece LOVED! It's tradition in my family to see at least 1 version of "CATS" live. My parents and I saw it in NYC at The Winter Garden Theater, and we passed the tradition onto my niece with Oasis. While a lot was edited out, it was cleverly done and they kept all the songs that made "CATS" famous. Even the choreography was basically the same (I suspect the parts that were changed were due to the performer's safety, as we did have rough seas).

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All were accommodating!

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
They could have included a little more storage. Although the room sleeps 4, it certainly wasn't built for storage for 4!

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Could use more storage, that's about it.

Ship tip

The shows, the Abyss, and Johnny Rockets are a MUST!

Ports of call

Cape Liberty (Bayonne), New Jersey

4 out of 5
Embarked and debarked here.

Port Canaveral, Florida

4 out of 5
Been here several times so we stayed on the ship.

Nassau, Bahamas

4 out of 5
Rained here too but we still enjoyed the pirate ship!

Perfect Day At Coco Cay, Bahamas

4 out of 5
It rained all day here, but we still enjoyed the pool and zipline!

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Easiest disembarkation ever!
