Embarkation

5 out of 5
Awesome and what as expected. We had a Haven Suite so we received expedited check in with personal butlers to accompany us through the process. We were given provided a private lounge area where beverages and refreshments were available while a representative collected our documents and checked us into the cruise ship. We were then taken to the Haven restaurant where we had lunch while we waited for rooms to be available. Everyone was great.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The food was delicious and there were many options. We ate primarily in the Haven restaurant where the food AND service were great! We also ate in the Garden Cafe buffet and other specialty restaurants and food was good at those as well. There was only one restaurant’s food that disappointed in our opinion. I do not want to name it because it could just be personal tastes. Service was excellent in all restaurants.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
In all fairness for this rating, we spent the majority of our time on shore excursions. However, on the day at sea and the one other day we were not on an excursion, the activities to choose from were not available due to high winds or closed while in port.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
They were awesome! High quality and enjoyable.

Children's Programs

No children under 13 in my family

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everyone was very helpful. Always greeted us and would greet by name if they saw you on a regular basis. Our room steward knew my son preferred to sleep late, so he would wait until later in the afternoon to clean our stateroom. He greeted us by name. The first morning of our cruise, I asked to be seated by the window. After that, I found myself seated at tables by windows in EVERY restaurant on the ship if available without asking. I figured this preference was noted in my account.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship had beautiful decor throughout and was always clean and maintained. Decks were cleaned each morning. The sides of the ship scrubbed and repainted as needed each day. Public restrooms were clean. Public lounges were clean and had plenty of seats The ship was handicap accessible all over with lots of assistance from staff for vacationers who had mobility difficulties.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Beautiful stateroom with a large bedroom, large bathroom with a huge bathtub, and a living room/dining room space. We had a small balcony. The bedroom had a stateroom window that was right below the captain’s bridge. So we had a similar view as the captain’s forward facing vantage. Our suite had lots of closets and storage drawers and dressers. In the bathroom, the toilet and the shower each had a separate enclosure.

Ship tip

Disembarkation would not seem disorganized if the ship managed expectations better. The one place where PRIORITY status failed was here. There is no “priority” status here. Everyone has to wait in the same queue for access to the assigned buses

Ports of call

Southampton (London), England Did not visit port

We have visited London on many occasions before this trip.

Rotterdam, Netherlands

5 out of 5
We visited Amsterdam for the day. It was very nice.

Zeebrugge (Bruges), Belgium

5 out of 5
We visited a chocolate factory in Bruges. The tour was a walking tour. We a lot of people with mobility issues who found it difficult to keep up with the pace. This made lots of people disgruntled with the tour guide. I thought this unfair because there is a limited amount of time for the shore excursions and everyone wanted their money’s worth.

Le Havre (Paris), France

4 out of 5
Nice. We did a 11-hour day trip to Paris. Three hour drive each way through Normandy. The tour includes a driving tour through Paris to see famous landmarks, plus a visit to the Eiffel Tower and “free time”. The free time is so short that the trip is very fast for those who have never been to Paris before. However, Paris is a city worth visiting many times in my experience. We had been to Paris before so we were happy to see it again and have lunch on the Avenue des Champs-Élysées. The visit to the Eiffel Tower was a photo op for people to take a picture of the tower and shop at souvenir stores. We lost lots of time due to people being late back to the bus. This was annoying because it happened more than once. Not the tour organizer’s fault. This is due to inconsiderate people.

Le Verdon-Sur-Mer (Bordeaux), France

5 out of 5
Beautiful. We did a day trip to Bordeaux. Our guide provided a history of local vineyards. We had about two hours of free time in Bordeaux. We shopped and dined at a local French restaurant.

Bilbao, Spain

5 out of 5
Another beautiful place. We visited the Guggenheim Museum. Ended the trip in the “mountains” with a view of the canal and city.

La Coruna, Spain

5 out of 5
Very short drive through town and to a few scenic places for photo opportunities.

Vigo, Spain Did not visit port

Was exhausted from the prior weeks of touring. Decided to try to enjoy the ship’s activities.

Lisbon, Portugal Did not visit port

We went directly to the airport for flight home.

Disembarkation

I was disappointed by the “priority” process at the end. I would not have been had I understood the process better.
