Review summary

The loss of the Gibraltar excursion and the lack of diversity of entertainment were the biggest negatives. The foot and service were the highlights. Overall I'd give the cruise a "good" rating.

Embarkation

Very, very long lines. Took about 1.5 hrs to embark. People inline who are regular NCL customrs said they've never seen this before.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
I thought the food and beverage service was very good.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
The main entertainments were quite good. The problem was the diversity. Usually there was only one main entertainment at a time. Consequentially, any time there was an pic Theater entertainment going on, it was packed. Also, the weather precluded use of the top deck, pools, slies, etc. No pickleball courts, which my last two cruise ships had.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
I thought the service was very good.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
The ship was clean, but it is an older ship. It will be renovated next year.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
I thought it was clean and confortable. Some people don't like the separate showere, sink, and toilet, but my wife and I prefer it.

Ship tip

I don't think you will be dissappointed overall. I think they work hard to provide a good experience.

Ports of call

Gibraltar (U.K.)

1 out of 5
We couldn't make this pport of call because of problems with electronic systems aboard that slowed our speed. They had to cancel this excursion. It was very dissappointing, especially since we had concluded 9 sea days and were really looking forward to an excursion to a place I;ve never been.

Alicante, Spain

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

3 out of 5
I think most of our group were dissappointed with this excurison. Billed as a 6.5 hour sisteseeing trip, we had the impression we'd get a comprehensive overview of Rome. I also thought we'd get a lot of historical context. We did see some very important historical sites, but then we were dropped off at the sites closest to our hotel. I would say the site seeing part was about 2.5 hrs.
