Review summary

Totally enjoyed our cruise. Balcony room was wonderful. Staff was attentive and ship immaculate. The port excursions we took were well organized and ran smoothly. Food was good and buffet better than expected. This cruise runs differently than American run cruises where each port is a boarding for new guests and departure for guests who have been on for their total amount of days. Casino pools zip line jacuzzis live shows theme nights happy hours - meet the captain night photo sessions gelato some of the best Italian chocolates - shopping onboard. Download the app before you get there. There is a shuttle from the airports to the ship - ask your travel agent and arrange way before you leave. Tip for fellow Americans- learn some Italian before you go. Crew spoke English but most passengers did not. We met people from all around the globe on this ship.

No lines fast friendly service. A little disappointed that there was no fanfare though

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Dining rooms were clean large and offered something different every day. We ate at the restaurant for our nightly seating and really enjoyed the themes. Wine was not very good though.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Pools and hot tubs for every style. The kids area was so fun. A lot to see and do. The adults only area was relaxing and serene. Seating was limited on most decks so reserve your seat early especially on the at sea days. No problem getting a drink delivered to your deck chair.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The shows were wonderful! Something different every night. Be sure to reserve your ticket to get in. Use the remote on the tv to make reservations. All shows were enjoyable for any language. And all age groups.

Children's Programs

We did not travel with children

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Room steward was to notch. Great service and everything we needed was ready for us. Room service was on time and friendly. We ordered breakfast most mornings with cappuccino and croissants. It’s free but there was. A 4 euro fee to bring it to you. Worth it for the convenience.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Everything was immaculate and sparkling. Brand new ship - it’s just as expected. Someone was always making sure every corner was sparkling

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Size was not bad. I was pleasantly surprised. Comfy beds and couch. A desk area and small fridge. USB plugs near bed and desk. We brought converters but did not need them. Bathroom was tight but adequate. Shower was teeny. The water pipes were hot so beware and don’t lean on them. Shower gel and shampoo in containers on the wall. We did not use but would be convenient if you need. Extra shelves near bathroom mirror which was appreciated for toiletries and make up storage. The balcony was the best! I don’t think I could ever cruise again without it. Worth the extra cost. Two chairs and small table on the balcony. We totally enjoyed sitting out there every night and every morning watching the ship come into port. We left the sliding doors open at night to enjoy the fresh ocean air while we slept.

Ship tip

There are many nationalities and languages spoken on this ship. Although the crew is fluent in many languages most guests cannot communicate. Was interesting to see and experience. But everyone knew the common language of fun

Ports of call

Genoa, Italy Did not visit port

We boarded here and came directly from the airport

Naples, Italy

We loved it. Bustling and exciting. This port has many taxis and tour buses waiting for you when you disembark. You can choose from something on your own and things are walkable from port.

Messina, Sicily

We chose the ‘taste of Sicily ‘ bus tour. Leisurely drive up the coastline. Disappointed by the garbage and debris on waterline. Stopped at small cafe for cappuccino and drink. Could walk around for a while. We also stopped for other delicacies along our travels and saw the ave Maria bell tower.

Valletta, Malta

The port was beautiful. Some shopping and dining right off the boat. Took the Jeep tour. Was our favorite excursion and port that we visited! Beautiful island beautiful warm friendly people. The 4x4 was fun and fast and a great open air view of this wonderful little country. Swim in the ocean cove. Popeye village. Walled village - so enchanting. This is someplace I would return to. Gorgeous!

Barcelona, Spain

Took the gauldi tour. Big group on multiple busses. Drove past most buildings in town and up to the cathedral and his town. Unbelievable. So amazing to see this architectural genius up close. Great tour. Got off the bus before the tour ended and could walk along the shops and restaurants on las Ramblas.

Marseille (Provence), France

Did not do an excursion here. But I wish we had. We walked to the free bus station near the port. Was so crowded! Walked to the next bus stop for a few euros rode into town. We took the trolley to the church at the top of the hill - worth the trip- and lunched at the marina. Ferris wheel was not running but we enjoyed the view and shopped along the many streets.

Disembarkation

Everything went smooth - if you followed the clear directions given to you the night before. We had the early departure which moved along quickly.
