Review summary

Amazing cruise, really enjoyed it. Beautiful ship with so much to see and do. I can't see how anyone can fault the food or accommodation. Definitely get a balcony room though, it's nice to get away from it all every now and again.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
It was our first cruise and we were happily surprised at how easy it was to embark.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The food and drink were widely varied. Very fresh food every day with a huge choice. Could not fault it.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Excellent on board activities, so much to do.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Entertainment was brilliant, something for everyone. Loved the disco and live music.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
My kids are aged 13 and 17 and said it was their best holiday ever. They loved everything about it. The teen club was brilliant. The VR and paid extras such as bowling and interactive games and bowling was very expensive though.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
99% of the staff were amazing, worked so hard and were always cleaning and serving. When we first arrived it did spoil things a bit when a member of staff came to take our drinks order and I caught him rolling his eyes when my 80-year-old in-laws were trying to figure out what they were allowed to have on their drinks package, which isn't very clear. I didn't say anything at the time. Later when they received their suitcase the wheel had been broken and the staff apologised for breaking it. However, when my father in law went to ask to have it fixed at reception, they basically called him a liar, saying it must have happened on the airline, which we arrived with two days BEFORE we docked the ship. This was impossible as there was no way he could have managed such a big case at his age with a broken wheel. It was a very disappointing start to our holiday as they refused to take responsibility or help in any way. Because of this, they are reluctant to book with MSC again in case something else goes wrong and they refuse to help. The suitcase was bought brand new for the trip and was a hard shell. They managed to get it repaired when we docked by a local mechanic. The rest of our holiday went smoothly and many staff were amazing, really went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. It's just a shame this incident put a dampener on things. We still tipped in full despite this.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
I loved the ship, although my inlaws aren't as mobile and found it a bit big. It was immaculately clean, mirrors everywhere and lots of places to go.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Great sized cabin, especially as my two kids used the sofa bed, which was made into bunk beds for them. The shower was lovely, the balcony perfect. Very happy with the cabin.

Ship tip

Use the buffet after 7.30pm, it gets a lot quieter then.

Ports of call

Barcelona, Spain

5 out of 5
Absolutely loved Barcelona, stayed there two nights before the ship left port. So much to see and do.
