Review summary

It was a nice vacation. This cruise was planned for two years ago in March when the shut down began. I'm glad to have been able to cruise again and look forward to cruising without a mask. I applaud the staff for being positive and upbeat!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
To be fair, we splurged and purchased the Key. We got a deal on it for 60% off making it the same price as the internet package. With the Key we were able to board with the suite and pinnacle class. It was nice because the line was long and we were able to skip it. Very quick from line to ship (took about 30 mins).

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
I was able to find at least one thing in Main Dining that I liked every night. The Windjammer was a constant disappointment as food sat out untouched. It was as if they cooked for a full ship even though we sailed at less than 50% capcity. All the staff were superb though and great service!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We did the water slides and utilized the gym. We had dinner at 5:30 and were able to always have a hot tub available afterwards, most of the time to ourselves. It was nice!

Entertainment

To be fair, I didn't go to any of shows. We are a couple in our early 30s. When I go on January cruises, entertainment is typically tailored to the older crowd because that's the majority of the cruisers. I usually lounge around reading books and occasionally going down the waterslides. I heard mixed reviews.

Children's Programs

4 out of 5
Our 10 month old was the youngest person on the ship and we didn't really use the nursery like we thought we would. The hours were 9am to 12pm and 7pm to 11pm ergo, the nursery was not opened during the time we wanted it to be. The ladies running the nursery were super nice though!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Myra was the best room steward! She was very attentive. Darwin and Iwayan were the best in Main Dining!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship was clean and still nice albeit a bit dated. If you have been on the Oasis class ships, this will be a let down. If not, you will appreciate the openess of the promenade in comparison to other ships from the same time. It's in need of updating to the new modern theme.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Spacious balcony that worked well for my family. It was clean and quiet most of the time.

Ship tip

I became a big fan of breakfast in main dining. I didn't know that was a thing but I loved it! AlsoTry the Royal Burger from room service! It was delicious! The first sea day and the last were chilly, dress accordingly! The wind was also very strong those days.

It's Galveston. Ship needs to dock somewhere.

Cozumel, Mexico

Had a very relaxing beach day at Chakunab. It was hot but the water was a little too cool for me.

Belize City, Belize

Even outside, you have to keep the masks on. It was also very hot here.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico
