Review summary

Overall a positive experience. Some people still choose to not wear masks when they are required and while crew 'reminds' them, there really isn't any enforcement. Good Covid protocols observed among crew and good guidelines for passengers, just not always followed by everyone.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Quick and easy. No long lines and friendly staff to get you through check-in hassle-free.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Service remains a little slow (IMHO) considering staff levels are up and guest levels reduced. Staff is still super friendly and glad to be back working. Bar menus were adequate and drinks well made. Cleaning of surfaces (between patrons) could (should) be more than just a cursory wipe down. Not a lot of disinfectant being used by staff and the floors in most venues (from MDR to Windjammer) could have been kept a lot cleaner. While the Windjammer offer a wide variety of food at breakfast and lunch, the selections were repeated every day with few new options. MDR menu offered a nice selection but could have had a few more vegetarian options.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Pools were crowded with limited social distancing in the arrangement of deck chairs. Standard offering of trivia/game show events and waits at the rock wall and surf center. Water slides were mostly open but got busy with the increase of middle aged children on sea days.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
El Gaucho was entertaining and so was the ice show. Bars had a good variety of music from piano to soft soft rock. I believe Holland America Line offers a better selection of music venues with a higher quality of musicians.

Children's Programs

No children

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Service was always friendly and professional. No complaints or issues.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Ship has a good design and is easy to get from location to location. Elevator capacity was not enforced per ship's social distancing rules. I appreciated the stairway hand rails being wiped down frequently but hallways and bar/restaurant floors need to be swept more frequently.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Nice balcony cabin with comfortable bed and pillows. Size adequate for married couple. Cabin steward was very friendly and kept room immaculate.

Ship tip

Take expandable metal drinking straws if you plan to drink soda or blended/frozen drinks. And keep track of them so you have them the entire cruise.
