Review summary

We had a great time. The ship was beautiful and very clean. The food was good, but not great. On our last night we ordered the Seafood meal and were very disappointed to find out it was probably a Costco special, frozen battered cod with frozen battered shrimp and scallops exactly the same you find on the frozen isle at Costco, served with frozen peas and carrots, probably also from Costco. While we found the selection at the buffet good we find it sad that the meals served at dinner on the Carnival Cruises we went were much better. Service is good but also not the best, some of the staff specially at the shops and bars were slow in service and didn't seem very happy to serve us. What was most disappointing to us was to find the Boomerango water slide still not working. I understand they having problems with a new feature, but the way they handled it was what really bothered me. I wish they had informed us in advance via email, maybe with an apology.  It would've been a lot less disappointing to know ahead of time. Instead they chose to ignore the problem. There was no mention of it, no one talks about it, not even on the video they show of all the recent renovations, they talk about everything but that. It's the White Elephant of the ship, which is ironic because they were starting to stall some foam padding on it which are actually White. Having said that the staff at the Flowrider were awesome, our boys spent most of their time there and had a blast and the entertainment was the best we have ever seen at sea. The ice skating show and the acrobatic show well exceeded our expectations, Saturday Night Fever was excellent, a true Broadway show at sea.

Sports staff was excellent, waiters were good, but staff at shops and bars didn't seem very happy to be there. Some made us feel like we were bothering them.

Surprisingly quiet. The bay window with extra seating made it seem a lot more spacious. Only time we heard any noise was during the 70's disco party which happened one night between 10 and 11 pm (by 11:01pm it was dead silent again) and the Zumba Class which was on the last day from 9 to 10 am. Those two occasions were not a problem for us since we didn't go to sleep before midnight and were always awake by 9, but it is something you need to consider if you plan to be asleep during those hours.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

Great port. We stayed at the Harbor House Hotel and Marina and walked just one block to the port. Very nice walk-able area with lots of restaurants around.

Falmouth, Jamaica

Blue Hole and Dunns River Falls are fun, but it's not my favorite port of call.

George Town, Grand Cayman

Royal Palms Beach Club was very crowded and noisy, just take a cab to the public beach. They have restrooms, outdoor shower and a big pavilion with tables, no crowds there, very peaceful and relaxing.

Cozumel, Mexico

So many places to go in Cozumel, all with great service, you can't go wrong.
