Review summary

We have sailed on Freedom in the past. Love the ship and it's amenities. Our cabin was the usual balcony cabin. I wasn't aware that the fridge is not stocked anymore. Our water in the bathroom sink never got cold and the balcony light did not work. Otherwise great location on mid ship.

Embarkation

1 out of 5
Embarkation is nothing like I've ever experienced on a Royal cruise before. We have sailed with them 5 times now. Taking into account is was VERY busy on Sunday 4/22. The airport was mobbed. Transfer to the ship was slow and unorganized. We waited over an hour for a bus and when it finally arrived the driver and on ground Royal employees were visibly in disagreement about everything. The driver refused to move our luggage closer to the bus (parking was limited). Once on the bus all he did was complain via the intercom about the RC staff making his job harder. Once to the pier the wait for security and then checking in to get on the ship was another hour. Lines upon lines upon lines. Something I truly have never experinced with Royal.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

I paid for a soda package...the only machines that worked faithfully were the Windjammer. The Promenade Freestyle machines we ALWAYS DOWN

Windjammer Marketplace

5 out of 5

We never stepped foot in the Main Dining Room. We preferred to have this option as we sat by the pool and hit the ports most days. The convenience is just too perfect.

Always great pizza!

Schooner Bar

5 out of 5

Very attentive staff and a great atmosphere. Right on deck 4 where we tended to go out for fresh air.

Sabor Mexican Restaurant

5 out of 5

LOVE Sabor! Cover was $22 per person, but the food was never ending and so delicious!

Pool Bar

Our waiter was attentive from day 1. He knew my Husband's name and would literally find us and check up on us everyday we were at the pool.

Johnny Rockets

5 out of 5

The cover has increased which is expected. Love the staff and the food is always great. I had a meal also "to-go" and the waiter was more than happy to have that read for us.

Boleros Lounge

Rock Climbing Wall

My Husband tried this and the attendant was excellent in guiding him through his climb when needed.

Swimming Pools

Clean, life guard always on duty and easy to access and get a chair most days.

Promenade

5 out of 5

Busy, but the best place to frequent when needing a break from the sun! Freestyle Coke machines rarely worked and that was unfortunate bc the only other place they were located was up in the Windjammer. Stores were stocked and service was friendly.
