Review summary

This was my first cruise with Royal Carribbean and I will not be a returning customer. The Enchantment ship was old and rusty, small, tight, unacceptable for a major cruise line. The personnel was helpful, pleasant and the food was decent.

Embarkation

The employees were very friendly and pleasant. Smooth process.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The food in the main dining room and buffet didn't have a lot of favor, but overall it was good. The dining room layout was very tight. We had to wait until another table left to leave, because the tables were so close together. Buffet area was too small and not a lot of seating, during busy period. The dining options were limited to a small cafe in the Solarium after 9 p.m. There is another option, room service, but Royal Carribbean charges a $7.95 service charge, plus 18% gratituty for room service.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The fitness center has good equipment, tightly packed in a small area. Royal doesn't charge for some fitness class, which is a good thing.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The headliners were okay, nothing spectacular. The crew stage show had great singers and a good show.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Service and staff personnel do a nice job. Very friendly and pleasant employees.

Ship Quality

1 out of 5
The ship, Barnacle Betty, needs to be remodeled and refurbished. The ship shows excessive rust on the decks, balcony, and exterior of the ship. I couldn't believe RC has not kept this ship up. Very poor conditions.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
The cabin was kept clean by our room attendant. It was a very small room for a Balcony room and the balcony was half the size of other cruise lines.

Ship tip

Pay more and go on another cruise line.

Ports of call

Baltimore, Maryland

Royal Naval Dockyard, West End, Bermuda

There isn't much at this port. The shopping is minimum and the closest beach in walking distance charges to access the beach. It's better to take a taxi to Horseshoe Bay beach, which is a pretty nice beach. The Dockyard port is too far from most of the attractions, such Crystal Caves, Tobacco Beach, and other beaches. Horseshoe Bay is about 25 minutes in a taxi.

Nassau, Bahamas

I would recommend to anyone, Do Not take the water taxi on Paradise Islands. You have to walk about 2 to 3 miles to get to the beach and there are no signs leading the way. Take a taxi instead. Also, we were told at the port that you needed to plan a excusion to visit the other islands, because they were private island. Don't know, if that is true, but it was disappointing to hear that at the port.

Perfect Day At Coco Cay, Bahamas

4 out of 5
Nice amentities at their private island, such as pool and separate beaches. The food was decent. Also, RC provides a trolley to take you to different parts of the island. I would suggest having more golf carts to transport people from the ship to the island. It is a long walk for those with walking issues or disabilities and the lines were long waiting for the 4 or 5 golf carts to return.

Disembarkation

2 out of 5
Long lines to disembark and we requested an early departure at 8:15 a.m., but the self assist took longer and we weren't able to get in line until 8:40 a.m.
