Review summary

We really enjoyed this ship and itinerary. Summit is an older ship, BUT the crew and resulting service was top notch. You can see the cosmetic wear in many areas, but everything was clean, the food first rate, and service the tops. The Capt and his team are very visible to guests and go out of their way to answer questions and provide tips. We participated in the Cellar Master Chef's Table and enjoyed an incredible 5 course meal with wine pairings. Orlando the executive chef and the drink and beverage manager Mario hosted the event. Small intimate dinner with about 8 guests - superb in every way. Ship goes into upgrade in Jan 2019 - we'll return to some future date.

Food and Dining

Luminae

4 out of 5

Nice portions, creative drinks - but it remained the same menu throughout the cruise. Would have liked to see variation through the week

Le Petit Chef

4 out of 5

Diverse menu - very good, but the combinations of dishes at a meal is not conventional.

Crush

This is a review of Martini Bar which is our FAVORITE on the ship. Most creative bar tenders will put on a show for you.

Cellar Masters

5 out of 5

Hosted the first part of the Chef's Table. Incredible experience. The bar has the most variety of drink options. Other bars are not as well stocked.

Cafe al Bacio and Gelateria

5 out of 5

Great coffee drinks (hot and cold). Visited several times per day. Also includes pastries and a gelato station.

Persian Garden

Nice but outdated and ready for the renovation. Dark without an outside window like some of the other ships.

The Theater

5 out of 5

Great variety of shows from comedy to musicals. Talented team. Like the small lit tables for drinks. Had not seen that on the other M ships.

Ship tip

Ask about Cellar Masters Chef's table. Look at Deck 11 (highest cabin deck) Aqua Spa - private area with easy access to movie venue, Sunset Bar, and Qsine

Ports of call

San Juan, Puerto Rico

City and island recovering well. We found island hotels very nice with beautiful views. Old Town remains our favorite. Toured the old city and historical parks/forts. Friendly helpful residents pointed us to the right restaurants.

Basseterre, St. Kitts

3 out of 5
We walked Basseterre and its a typical Caribbean tourist collector. Found the vendors and excursion salespeople very aggressive and intrusive. We like going into the historical areas and viewing the buildings/parks.

St. John's, Antigua

Castries, St. Lucia

Did a Segway beach tour. Five hour excursion, but only about 1 1/2h Segway (approx 2 miles of beach and forest area with some historical military sites. Sites were spectacular, great photo ops. After Segway, took us on a local community tour - both high end and common residential areas. Finally stopped a the St. Lucia Yacht club for a beach stop. Had a restaurant with common US bar food. Beach was way too crowded. Would been happy to just Segway and go back to ship.

Bridgetown, Barbados

5 out of 5
Thought this was a pretty nice port. No pushy vendors or taxi drivers. We explored Bridgetown. They've been spared major hurricanes for 60 years so everything is in pretty good shape. Laid back .

Disembarkation

Celebrity did a fine job, but US customs was disappointing. Hats off to Capt Ioaniss and his leadership team - who bid farewell at all at departure.
