Enjoyed the ship, accommodations, food and bar services.  Ship was clean, staff and service were excellent.  Anytime dining staff was exceptional, professional and engaging.  Bar staff was friendly and prompt.  We were in concierge class and our room service was superior.  Loved having the balcony.

Fantastic Itinerary but the Celebrity Summit needs to be RETIRED!

Verified Review
/
Sail Date: / Traveled As: Couple

We enjoyed all the ports on the itinerary and the one day at sea.

The Celebrity crew and staff did a wonderful job, there was a nice variety of

on board activities for most age groups, and the entertainment was excellent.

However, this "mid size" ship needs to be either retired or rehauled. The staterooms are cramped, need updating in furnishings. Public areas are very dark, low ceilings, and the temperature not well regulated. The fitness area and spa are just average. Movie screen on upper level, not integrated with pool or other activities. Would not recommend for families with kids. Not enough fun stuff to do.

The food was, as most cruise ships, very ample and well prepared and presented; however, there was not enough variety. Specialty restaurants underwhelmlng.

Several passengers in our "concierge class" had issues with toilets, shower water pressure and security safe malfunctions. In short, it is just a BAD SHIP.

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Couple

this cruise is good for people who don't want to be around kids , although older crowd . Only complaint was walking across the ship for coffee . Shows were great last night show lacking a little and Magen's bay excursion not worth the money was only a ride there no beach chair or tour. Besides that no other complaints it was a great trip :-)

7-day fabulous and entertaining week on the newly renovated celebrity Summit!

Verified Review
/
Sail Date: / Traveled As: Family (older children)

We were surprised at the modern, newly renovated Summit since we've been on this ship a few years ago. The inside and outside pool, and public areas looked like the solstice class of ships we favor -refreshed not tired anynmore. The cuisine, service and sophisticated  entertainment in the theatre nightly really made this week special. We enjoy the quiet and zen atmosphere of the solarium pool during the afternoons and day at sea!!!! Only Celebrity offers these inside pools...feels like outside without the wind, rain, loud music or heat!

Everyone was friendly and the shore excursions were seamless getting on and off the ship. The weather was spectacular except for a fleeting rain called "liquid sunshine" occasionally.

Cruising from San Juan to USVI's and Martinique & Dominica

Verified Review

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Family (older children)

This is my 2nd cruise on the Celebrity Summit. I cruised from San Juan to Barbados last year, and this time we went to St. Croix, Martinique, Dominica, St. Martin and St. Thomas. Both cruises were lovely and I plan to keep this cruise in my long term itinerary because I truly love the Caribbean and Celebrity does an excellent job delivering a 1st class experience.

The crew is friendly, professional and dedicated. The ship is quite beautiful, especially after her refurb this year. Summit has many intriguing little nooks and crannies to explore, and the interiors are elegant, romantic and quite swanky. I love the mid century modern touches in the main foyer. The permanent artwork on the ship is magnificent, but the "art" offerred by Park West gallery (an approved vendor) is less impressive (save for the vintage Peter Max lucite sculptures which are fabulous). I am not a fan of mass produced "giclee" which is a fancy name for an acrylic medium hand embellished machine print, and not original or special in any real way.

What is special about Summit is her vintage feel. She's an school ship with a mod touch and it really works well. It is great to just stay on board and explore the ship for hours.

The excursions are many, and really quite good, although at time a little bit pricey. If you happen to be in Barbados and just want a great beach day, I recommend "The Boatyard". For a mere $15.00 you get a a wristband, free drink, Bali Bed or Umbrella & chairs on the beach, and a cab ride home- all included! A great deal, because the beach is gorgeous, the restaurant is a bonafide "beach club" and they have the "Happy Beach Day Delivery Service" down do a perfect science. The reggae music is playing, rum punch is flowing, the grill offers a nice selection of lunch items, and free water sports toys are available on the beach like the Pirate Plank rope swing, a water trampoline and an ice berg. This is undeniably the best value on the whole cruise. It was one of my best days last year.

For a little more, you can find an array of fun outings in the $50 - $70 per person range, and a few other nice options in the $100- $135 per person range. I took a $135 day pass at the Palms beach resort in Saint Croix, (included shuttle bus and lunch) and it was very lovely & I have no complaints, but Boatyard in Barbados was far more fun and far less expensive.

All in all, my favorite excursion was the Champagne Cat sailing adventure to St. John USVI (Honeymoon Beach) from Saint Thomas. It was stunningly beautiful, and very comfortable. The crew was outstanding. They couldn't do enough to please us at every moment.

The food on Celebrity is outstanding. the main dining room "Cosmopolitan" is a winner. Delicious, well prepared French inspired cuisine with an American twist, and great, old school art deco atmosphere. This restaurant is the main attraction and is included with all cruises. No real need to upgrade, but the Gastro-Art boutique restaurant on the 11th deck called QSine is well worth a visit (either in an upgrade package, or a 1 time visit with $40 cover charge). The food and design at QSine is extraordinarily creative and delicious. A bit kitschy and gimmicky at first- I was slightly skeptical. I thought if the food did not hold up, then the gimmicks would fall flat. I was very pleasantly and happily surprised. The food was excellent and the creative and interactive presentation just made the whole experience all the more delicious & enjoyable. Disco Shrimp was a fun appetizer, and it is so very obvious that someone with a lot of talent managed the creative design team behind the QSine concept. Well done!

All in all, I enjoyed my experience on Celebrity. Excellent all around. One mystery still circulates and is now elevation to the level of conspiracy theory...why did we all suffer from puffy feet on the 3rd night of the cruise, and all the way to the end? Salt in the food? Salt in the water? (The ship desalinates ocean water for drinking). We may never know- but it is a safe bet that the Bottled Water package is a good idea.

Family Christmas

Verified Review

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Large Group

Celebrity Summit was a fabulous cruise.  We traveled with old to young adults and everyone had a wonderful time.  The service on this ship was superior to other lines I have been on before.  I have traveled on Royal, Carnival, Norwegian, Holland and Disney. I enjoyed the layout of the ship and the adult only pool.  The highlight was the dining, everything from the servers to the food. The entertainment in the theatre could have been better, but we were usually tired by then from having so much fun on the islands and a beautiful evening meal. Everything was very clean and well maintained throughout the ship. This is a good bang for your dollar.

Good food, Dull Entertainment

Verified Review

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Family (older children)

Food was superior. Entertainment was aged, dull and virtually lifeless. Needs a dedicated disco, livelier shows, better comedian. Itinery was good (although Martinique has become tawdry, no longer the charming French village of years past).

Ship cleanliness

Verified Review
/
Sail Date: / Traveled As: Couple

my first impression when I entered our stateroom is that it's not clean so we called

guest services and they sent the room attendant who did a lousy job and my wife

had to clean afterwards as much as she could. A day later I had a terrible diarrhea

the nurse visited me and I was grounded for 24 hour in my stateroom we learnd

later on there were people thick in the nineth floor, the eighth floor and the

sixth floor it took 3 to 4 days until we felt they did an effort and the rooms are a bit

cleaner the food is nothing more than average. In general we can't give more than 1.5 star

Good cruise.  Seemed a little limited on entertainment during evenings and during day at sea.

For most part crew was very helpful and accommodating.  Pleasant and seeded to enjoy their jobs.  Did their best to attempt to resolve any potential issues.

St Croix, very nice beach just off pier to the left. Walk past the clock tower and follow along the shore. When you hit the beach continue along till the small shack where you can rent chairs and umbrellas.
