Review summary

One of my favorite cruises that I have ever taken. Loved everything about the ship and the port.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We were book in a Celebrity Concierge room so we had our own special check in line. We were able to get on the ship in 15-20 minutes. Someone that I was traveling with has a medical reason for not being able to walk through the metal detectors in the cruise terminal, so they took our group to a separate area next to the metal detectors and checked all of us, and then they sent us on our way to check in. When you book a Celebrity Concierge room, you get complimentary lunch in the main dining room on embarkation day. We gave this option a try and we loved it. We were a group of 3 and we were seated with one other group at our table. The food was excellent, just like it is everywhere on board Celebrity ships.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The main dining room was excellent. I would always order 2-3 appetizers, 1-2 entrees, and 1 dessert, all of it was top notch. This was my 9th cruise and still, one of my favorite things that Celebrity(and Royal Caribbean) does is they have a part of their menu at dinner that never changes. This was good if someone doesn't like any of the options in the part of the menu that changes every night. They always serve chicken, steak, etc. in the part of the menu that does not change. Our waiter and assistant waiter was very good, probably made the list of my top 5 waiters that I have ever had while on board a ship. The Ocean View cafe was very good as always. This was my 4th time on the Celebrity Summit, and the food is always as good as the last time. We often went there for lunch, and we had breakfast there a few days. We ordered room service 3 or 4 mornings. You can order everything that you want and then you select a time, leave your order form on the door by a certain time, and your food will be delivered to your room. We had an aft balcony with a very large table, so we always had the food brought outside. It was especially nice while at sea because the view of the sea was amazing. We ate at Qsine two nights. The other 2 people that I was traveling with were on this ship 2 months earlier and they met a waiter there that they became great friends with, and when we went this time, we always requested him. At the end of the cruise we made it a point to go up to Qsine after dinner in the MDR one night and say goodbye to him. We would not have done this if we was not so nice and friendly. We exchanged phone numbers so that we can keep in touch and we still text each other today. All around great dining experience on board Celebrity Summit.

Le Petit Chef

I always love coming to this restaurant because the way it works is you order lots of different things(usually more than you can eat) and it comes out in several very small servings. It doesn't seem like it will fill you up, but believe me, IT DOES. The waiters bring the food out in a certain order so that you get the items that you really want, and if you decide to cancel things, you are not completely bummed out. The waiters there are some of the best that I have ever encountered.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
With the size of the Celebrity Summit, you cannot offer as much as you can on other big ships that I have been on. There are certainly always events going on, but they did not always appeal to me. I didn't feel like I had nothing to do, but it left me more time to do things on my own such as sitting around the pool, which I always enjoy, or doing another one of my favorite on board activities, eating. I always say that a cruise ship is the place to try new food because if you don't like something, you can always get something else, where it may not be the case at home. We had second seating dining, and before dinner every night, we went up to the revelations lounge and became very friendly with the bar staff there. It was never crowded and we were often the only people in there which was nice because we got personalized service. Making friends with the bar servers was nice because we were able to get a few free (non alcoholic) drinks.

The Pool

5 out of 5

The pool was always kept very clean throughout the cruise, and I was usually able to find a seat on the pool deck without any problems. The pool itself never felt over crowded on this cruise, but it usually does on other sailings. The pool is always my favorite place to relax while on a Celebrity cruise.

Entertainment

We are usually not the type of cruisers that goes out of our way to see shows while on Celebrity.

Children's Programs

We did not travel with children.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Cruise ship staff is always fantastic. Our waiter in the MDR and the specialty restaurants were absolutely great. Our stateroom attendant was so helpful, and we would often stop and talk to him whenever we saw him. I love interacting with crew around the ship, no matter where it is, what their job is, it is always fun. I love talking to some of the higher ranked staff, such as bridge officers, captain. I went to a navigation talk by the first officer, and it was very interesting. All staff is always so nice, and so easy to talk to because they are there to make your cruise great.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
This is my second favorite ship that I have been on. The overall layout of the ship is fantastic because it is so easy to navigate. Everywhere was super clean. It was actually hard to find an area that either was not just cleaned or was not being cleaned as we walked by or were there.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
This was a concierge room and WOW THAT WAS AMAZING. This is an aft balcony room and the room was very spacious and was always very clean. The balcony had a great view of the ocean. The balcony was the exact same size as the room(yes, I measured it by walking heel to toe.) I loved ordering room service in the morning and having breakfast on the balcony. This was definitely the best cabin that I have ever stayed in.

Ship tip

My best tip for anyone going on board the celebrity summit is to try specialty dining. It is always so good and you won't regret trying it.

Ports of call

Cape Liberty (Bayonne), New Jersey

5 out of 5
We live 1 hour away from the port so we drove in the day of the cruise so we didn't see much other than what was on our drive.

King's Wharf, Bermuda

5 out of 5
Bermuda is one of my favorite destinations because it is beautiful. I love taking the ferry to Hamilton and St. George. We went to Horseshoe Bay Beach and omg, it had the most clear water that I have ever seen in my whole life. I have been to Bermuda several times before this, but this was definitely my favorite time there.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
It was very smooth, we got off the ship very quickly. There was nothing too much to say about the disembarkation except that the crew does a very good job of keeping people moving and directing you where to go.
