Review summary

Smooth sailing once we got away from Vancouver. I like to spend time relaxing in the Solarium and there were always lounges available. We like to relax in the spas, but most people like the bubbles on and ignored us and just turned the bubbles on when they got in. Many times, they would leave a few minutes after getting into the spa. There is no way of turning off the bubbles once they have been activated and they bubble for about 15 minutes. Very irritating! Many places have a timer for the bubbles that can be turned off at any time. We have had this same complaint on other cruises with Celebrity. The gym is very good, lots of good equipment. The morning talks about the Volcano, Hawaii and Coral Reefs were excellent. Outstanding and interesting presentations and deliveries! The talks in the Central Theater were more of a sales pitch. Where to buy stuff. Not interested and did not stay long for the presentation. Celebrity is one of our favorite cruise lines and we will probably cruise with you another time. Even though you are affiliated with Royal Caribbean, we were not that impressed with Jewel of the Seas. However, you are also affiliated with Azamara and we really like that ship. We even have a cruise booked with them December 2018. We had taken your ship, the Solstice, to Alaska one week before this cruise.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

Food was mediocre in both the restaurant and Ocean View Cafe. The restaurant greeters were wonderful. The service was slow. I was disappointed in the Ocean View Café service. Many times, plates were not picked up in a timely manner from previous people when they were done. One instance that happened to me was when I picked up a full plate of food plus utensils still wrapped in the napkin. Since the closest drink station was closed that evening, I had to got to the center of the café for my drink, which took more time than usual. Regardless, I was not even gone 5 minutes and when I returned, the wait staff had removed my untouched plate full of food and untouched utensils still wrapped in the napkin. What a horrible waste of food, not to mention that I had to go collect another plate and fill it with food.

Service and Staff

As mentioned previously, the restaurant greeters were great. They were very friendly and helpful. Our room steward, I think that his name was Edmond, was excellent. The Ocean View Café greeters were very friendly. The staff on the other hand was not friendly and were slow. Many of the bar tenders were a bit slow while long winded chatting with other patrons. I gave this a 4 star for our room steward and restaurant greeters.
