We've been to Key West a few times. Very small town. I don't know where the butterfly place is but I think you can walk to about everywhere there.

It is doable but can be challenging if it is hot and humid

The Butterfly Conservatory is located on the upper portion if Duvall. Quite a walk from the pier, but very doable if not mobility challenged. If I am correct, there is a retail market/shop selling the acrylic butterfly displays and artwork near Mallory Square, close to the pier.
