Review summary

Cruise was well managed with excellent service. Menu items in Opus dining room sounded very upscale but flavor was lacking on some. Onboard entertainment was very good. Public spaces and pool area felt crowded. Bars were always packed. Excursions very expensive. 4 out of 10 days at sea were too many. After seeing these islands once would not book a Caribbean cruise a second time.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Very smooth and efficient with little delay

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Very good offerings in buffet and main dining room with very good service. Bars were always busy with all seats taken. Breakfast buffet very busy but evening buffet was not busy offering window seating as well as open air dining on rear deck.

Opus (Main) Dining Room

4 out of 5

Most offerings were good with some lacking any flavor. Don’t hesitate to reorder if dish disappoints. Unfortunate case of severe food poisoning occurred on 2nd night.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Open seats on pool deck hard to find. The Solarium adult pool was always full with no seats left. Rude passengers did not return used towels to bins when leaving so not clear if these lounge chairs were occupied or vacant.

Fortune's Casino

3 out of 5

Most slot machines were old but many allowed bets of less than $.50 allowing you to play and have fun

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Very good shows with variety of singing, dancing, comedians and aerial acrobats. House band that played all over the ship at different times was excellent.

Reflection Theater

5 out of 5

Beautiful theater with very good entertainment. Get there 30 minutes before showtime.

Grand Foyer

3 out of 5

Underwhelming with “grand” staircase blocking views and taking up too much of space. Area needs more seating and bar service. Very disappointing. Ship should have been designed with much larger foyer.

Children's Programs

Few children on cruise

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Room attendant kept stateroom immaculate

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Layout was easy to navigate. Design was sophisticated like a upscale conservative hotel. Grand foyer was not designed large enough. Seating was limited and view of dance floor and band partially blocked by “grand” staircase in middle of relatively small “grand” foyer. Not very impressive

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Very spacious comfortable bedding

Ship tip

Expect a older age group 65 to 80. Don’t expect to find an open bar seat at any time. Very hard to get a drink from busy bartenders.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

4 out of 5
Plenty of free beaches and good restaurants

St. John's, Antigua

2 out of 5
Town area very poor and unattractive. Went to one crowded beach that was pretty but had a sharp drop in water.

Bridgetown, Barbados

4 out of 5
Shopping by port was good. Town was a small city town with busy traffic dangerous to cross. Not worth seeing downtown.

Castries, St. Lucia

4 out of 5
Island had an upscale pleasant atmosphere with good port shopping. Take a tour or excursion.

Basseterre, St. Kitts

4 out of 5
Take a taxi tour. Like other islands, poverty and junk cars abound.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

4 out of 5
Took a taxi van tour around island. Some beautiful scenes.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Quick and easy. Luggage easy to find. Ship did not dock at same dock that it left from. Free shuttle service back to original dock where you may have parked your car.
