Do not bother with ship to shore excursions. You can walk the entire 10 block Scagway area, take a local shuttle to Mendenhall glacier and see the lumberjack show in Ketchican from the cruise ship.

Get a stateroom with a balcony. Alaska is so beautiful you don't want to miss many of the viewing opportunities!

Approach the Phantom Lounge on the 3rd or 4th floor, thereby avoiding a walk through the smoky casino on the 2nd floor. Plan to spend at least an hour if you eat in the Bacchus Restaurant, otherwise head up to deck 9 for faster dining.

this ship has wonderful adult serenity area, which also includes an adult only pool. However spots fill up quickly especially on a nice day but all in all a lovely place to spend the day

Do NOT buy shore excursions on the ship. Wait till you get off and negotiate with the vendors. about 3/4ths off of the price

Remember when you get a balcony, you can't pick your neighbors. Disrespectful neighbors can significantly impact your balcony-room experience. Inside room is cheaper and if you're a sun-lover it is the best value since you'll be on deck most of the time.

The back of the boat where our room was is noisy. If you are a sensitive sleeper don't get a room at the back of the boat. I personally liked the noise it helped me sleep.

If you are seeking peace and quiet, do NOT go to the (misnamed) Adult Serenity deck. There are definitely no "under 21's" there but there is a crowd of 20-30 somethings that gather to party around the pool area. It's loud and rowdy....no peace and quiet to be found despite the wonderful seating!
