Review summary

I love the Carnival Magic. I've sailed on it twice. It's beautiful, the service is great and if you are bored it's because you want to be. (Seriously, take a few minutes to be bored. Stop and just take it all in!)

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Total chaos but that is the nature of a port with multiple ship boarding on the same day. Not Carnival's fault. Just make sure you give yourself extra time because I've waited for hours in Galveston and I've also gotten off the parking lot shuttle, gotten through security and reception in a matter of minutes. You just never know.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

Play it Again Piano Bar

5 out of 5

A piano bar is always a great idea!

Northern Lights and Southern Lights Dining Rooms

5 out of 5

I think the Magic has been my favorite dining room. The service was great, as usual, but the entertainment was outstanding! I have always opted for dinner at a set time and have never been disappointed.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We loved the water slides and ropes course on the Magic. Did both multiple times. We always do the scavenger hunt. It's so much fun. We also love the trivia contests and the library when we need some quiet time.

Thalassotherapy Pool

I'd like to give this 6 stars! My niece and I bought the week pass and it was worth every penny. It's quiet and has an amazing view. Great for tired legs.

Ropes Course

We did this a couple of times. You can't beat that view!

The Serenity

I would like to personally thank the genius who realized that adults need their own area, too. It so peaceful and I usually don't have a problem finding a sun lounger.

Entertainment

Spotlight Lounge

Going to see the comedian is a must! Always a fun night out.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The room steward was very helpful when we had a request or problem...and by problem I mean we needed a few more towels and hangers since we had 4 people in our cabin. Room was always spotless. Dining room staff was very attentive without being overbearing. They would pour more wine before I even noticed that I was a sip away from being empty. Yes, I'm capable of refilling my glass I just love that they beat me to it!šŸ’•šŸ˜

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Beautiful ship and always surprisingly clean given how many people are on board.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
I'm an unnaturally light sleeper so I opt for an interior cabin. I've had 4 people in 1 cabin a few times and we had plenty of space for clothes. The beds are so comfortable! The room is always spotless. A common complaint is the amount of outlets but cruises are adding USB ports so that problem isn't a big deal anymore.

Ship tip

Be prepared to walk a lot because this ship is massive!

Ports of call

Cozumel, Mexico

I really like this port because it's really big with a ton of shops and I rarely feel like I'm being pestered by people selling crap. Be sure to ask where to go to get your passport stamped. Obviously, it isn't a requirement it's just something I always do.šŸ˜‰

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
I've done self-debarkation and also left my luggage out the night before for assigned debarkation. Both have been pretty uneventful which is exactly what you want. Just have all your documents and luggage tags IN HAND and you'll be in a taxi or shuttle in a snap.
