Review summary

My mother, daughter and I went on the Elation for my moms 60th birthday. It was a great time. It started off on a shaky start due to her birthday package being canceled without notice but we were able to quickly regroup. Where the Elation lacks in size, she gave me a warm relaxed feel the entire vacation. The staff was very attentive and I felt at ease.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
I felt the embankment period went very smoothly. There weren't long lines, the lines moved quickly and we were able to eat at the lido deck while waiting to get into our rooms. I did purchase the birthday package and was expecting that in my 2nd stateroom. I should've been notified prior to embarkation so that I could have accommodated for that and taken care of the room myself.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We mainly ate in the main dining room for dinner. Food was often repetitive and there were several upcharges even on the last night. For Breakfast you must try the made to order omelet station. For lunch you have a choice of the buffet, pizza or even the deli for hot or cold sandwiches and wraps. I lived off of the burritos made fresh to your liking.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
I played trivia, bingo, saw both comedians, hung out in the piano bar, went to towel folding, and went to serenity. Be prepared for the pool to be packed!!! There is one pool for everyone on this whole ship! Serenity was nice but def was missing a pool. The comedians were funny. I saw both of them a few times. Went to towel folding. Missed it by 5 mins. They still gave me a towel. There were employees walking around seeing me sitting there with my towel in lap and no one offered assistance. I guess if you miss the beginning you can't catch up. Bingo and trivia were offered everyday. Both were entertaining even if you didn't win.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We went to almost every comedy show...family friendly and adult only. Even with the same sets, the comedians were able to make each show still feel new.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
my daughter fought us she didn't want to go to the kids club. But we met a family at our table who had a son the same age and they convinced her to go that night. She went every day we were on the cruise. She had a blast and made new friends,

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
our room steward Disna and our dining room attendant knew our names after the first day.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Our ship I believe is one of the oldest in the fleet, but Carnival has done a great job in updating the ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The staterooms had big flat screen tv's, and our room had plenty of space for two people.
