Review summary

Overall a great trip, from leaving out of NOLA down the Mississippi to the good food, great staff and great entertainers.

Embarkation

Easy. There was a long line when we got there, so we dropped luggage and went to the nearby shops to hang out for 30 min until there was no line. Last on the boat, but no big deal to us. Our room was ready when we got there.

Food and Dining

I never ate from the main buffet, and thought everything else was really good. Main dining was really good with good choices. You always had the amazing chocolate melting cake as a wonderful fallback if everything else went wrong. The hamburgers & fries by the pool are amazing (and dangerous). There was a coffee/Tea cafe that made the trip so much nicer.

Mingon, our barista, was amazing. She worked her tail off and still had the best attitude (while pregnant!). She needs a raise, promotion or whatever next step she desires, as she will get it done.

Onboard Activities

It's so windy on the ship, it seems like there could be a better use for the basketball court (and I'm a basketball player). I did do any of the activities because of the wind.

Entertainment

The first two shows were off the charts good! That crew was TALENT. The other shows were really good.

Ocean Plaza

This ended up being where we hung out the most. The sound was better than the Dream lobby and the best acts were here. Unity was the best and since it was their last show before getting off the boat, someone needs to make sure they get back on. MAJOR talant! Laurence was great, but sounded best in the Song lounge with his style. I wish he had played there more. And the female singer for Sweet Chin was super talented. I could listen to her and the female singer from Unity all day long.

Service and Staff

They all took really good care of us. Habibe our room steward was on the spot with all of our requests. The cruise director was a multi-facet talent! He blew us away with how well he handled every situation. I've never seen anyone that was that artistically talented, while also being a great leader, with such awareness of his surroundings. I can't believe I've forgotten his name, but you can't miss him, as he wore a Kilt everywhere.

Cabin / Stateroom

It's great if you know what you are getting. If it's your first ride, you might be surprised at how small the rooms are, but getting a balcony really really helps that.

Ship tip

Good deck chairs are crowded, so you need to find your spot quick during the cruise and each day. Try the hamburgers early, as they will probably become a daily staple. I wish I would have tried the tandoor earlier as it was much better than expected.

I really enjoyed the trip down the river on the way out. And a great port if you get there the night before to hang out at.

Montego Bay, Jamaica

We got to a beach early, got a good spot with chairs and umbrella and had a great day. But, getting out there was a little scammy I thought with them shoving you into vans saying they would take you where you wanted, and then trying the bait and switch for their tours, and dropping you off where they wanted to. We had to walk a mile to the beach we wanted through a lot of "pan handling" shop-keepers and taxis.

They tried to make it as smooth as possible, but I think everyone must know they don't police it at all, so it's a free for all and hard to get an elevator with all your luggage.
