Review summary

7th cruise we have taken. Not the worst cruise we have been on. My biggest concerns was food service on buffet and dining room and the bar service that was feast or famine. Not happy with the tip increase to 18% for sub par service. Changed the way you get pictures also. $20 for a picture (8×10). Used to get a 5x7 for the fun pics when you get off the ship in port for 8.99, now $20. Used to buy those pics every cruise. Will never waste the money on the pics again or even let them take my pics again, waste of time.

Embarkation

That was the quickest I ever got on a ship.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Ships dining rooms took forever to get through appetizer, meal, and dessert. Steak house was wonderful. Buffet was OK but sometimes some of the food was dried out. Seafood shack awful. Guys burgers amazing and deli very good.

Steakhouse

5 out of 5

Best steak I have ever eaten. Great service from our waiter. My first time ever in the steak house and will do it every cruise for now on. $38 extra plus 18% tip is pricey but you are on vacation so it is worth it at least once per cruise.

Seafood Shack

1 out of 5

Bought the platter. Received 4 shrimps small amount of clams, 8 calamari rings, a piece of fish the size of a playing card, about 1 spoon of coleslaw and about 15 french fries. The food rated horrible. It was like they used 2 year old oil to fry it in.

Renoir Restaurant

2 out of 5

Slow, slow, slow. If you had entertainment you wanted to go to you need to skip the dining room.

Guy's Burger Joint

5 out of 5

Awesome place too eat. Long lines at times. Ate there everyday and never received a bad burger. 2nd best place to eat on the ship.

Lido Marketplace

3 out of 5

Food was Ok. Some of the hot food was cold, some dried out, and beef undercooked. The beef was cooked to med rare at the most. If you like yours cooked longer you were out of luck.

The Carnival Deli

4 out of 5

Good food and service. Always a line.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Hot tubs were nice and adult only pool.

Tahiti Casino

3 out of 5

Bar service here was feast or famine. Ok selection of slot machines but not enough of them. Lots of table games. Need to remove some of them and add slot machines. Saw a lot of empty tables with the dealers just standing there. Typical cruise casino. Pays out very good first 2 days and then they tighten up the machines daily until almost impossible to win by last night.

The Fun Shops

3 out of 5

Overpriced and not a good selection. Some of the clothing items they didnt have a size selection, only smalls and mediums. If you needed bigger you were out of luck.

Photo Gallery

1 out of 5

Overpriced. Raised priced dramatically from last year. The photographers were constantly trying to take your pictures. Not relaxing when someone's trying to stuff a camera in your face.

Entertainment

2 out of 5
Same old shows. Seen every show they had within past 6 years. They need to get new shows. DJs were good though.

Carnival's Seaside Theater

4 out of 5

Nice when not raining. Got to get there early or no seats available.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Room steward was awesome. Waiter in steakhouse should be in New York or Chicago doing what he does. He was great and would make a lot more there. Dining room service was sub par. Very slow. Guys burgers is the 2nd best place to eat after steakhouse and then the deli. Seafood shack was horrible and expensive. If you want to do on board activities then skip the dining room because everything took way too long. Bar service in the casino was hit and miss. We were on a premier cruise and we either had 4 waiters in 5 minutes asking us if we want drinks or we would go 2 hrs with no servers.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Not a single issue or problem.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Clean, a tad bit small, and shower drain was slow. If you took too long of a shower the shower would over flow

Ship tip

Dont go to the dining room. Takes too much time

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

2 out of 5
No excursion. Port was a industrialized port with cruise ships mixed in. Not a pretty port

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

5 out of 5
No excursion. Beach was a 5 minute walk and was a decent beach. Very reasonable prices for bar service on beach but food expensive. Well priced shops for souvenirs and at duty free shops. Friendly people, felt really safe.

Basseterre, St. Kitts

4 out of 5
Beautiful port. No excursions. More expensive shopping than St. Maarten. Save your money and do your duty free shopping and souvenir shopping there. Friendly people and felt safe.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

1 out of 5
No excursions. Things to do spread out. Very expensive and high tax rate. Food over priced. Their duty free stores was barely a savings as what you would pay in the states. Dont waste your money there. Island seemed kind of dirty.

Grand Turk Island

3 out of 5
Not a lot to do here. Margaritaville has a nice pool but very expensive drinks and food. The cheeseburger in paradise they serve is worse than a McDonald's cheeseburger. Souvenirs are very expensive here. At Ron John's if you hit the sale rack you can get some really good deals.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Once our luggage tag number was called we were off the ship in 5 minutes. Took about 10 minutes to get luggage and clear customs. Fastest ever disembarktion.
