Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Main restaurant fine. Good meals and choices. Good waiter. Lido buffet left much to desired. Poor, disjointed layout. Good fresh made egg breakfasts. Very mediocre breakfast and dinner buffet. Limited choices. Difficult to get drinks, i.e. coffee, juice. Not enough servers.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Fitness center was good. Pools were nice but had the usual problem of people reserving chairs with towels. Not enough policing. Not all pools had towels or waiters. Bring towels from your cabin.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Theater in center of ship extremely loud with bad acoustics. Main theater in the bow was very nice.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
This a tough one. Our waiter and room stewards were excellent. The staff in the buffet and in several bars were just iffy. Not their fault. Carnival needs additional staff.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Very nice ship except for the Lido buffet. Beautiful modern design. Several pools and meeting places.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Typical cabin with plenty of outlets at the desk, small bathroom, and a very large balcony. Unfortunately, our very large balcony was difficult to use because of the smoking area on mid-ship deck 8. Smoke continually wafted into our balcony and room whether in port or at sea. Thus the title of our review, "Aft Starboard Balcony beware."

Ship tip

Book on the port side.

15 years after our last visit, a bit disappointing. Old downtown is tacky. Port shopping is ok, but has kept visitors from the old town. Restaurants and bars don't open until 11 am. Cable car to mountain top restaurant was very nice. Long lines move very quickly.
