Great ship, staff and experience. Would definitely use and Royal Caribbean again!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Much smoother and faster than cruises I have taken in the past.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Food quality was excellent. Really enjoyed seafood choices of shrimp, crabcakes and lobster tail in formal dining. Desserts in formal dining were great too. Windjammer general breakfast and lunch were good too. Didn't use specialty restaurants.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Most were excellent like ice skating show, Night with Adele and aqua theater. However, Mama Mia show was way too long and British accents of actors for a play supposedly based on a town in Greece was disappointing.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
In addition to previous comments above the musical and dancing entertainment was great.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
My formal evening dining servers Muhammed and Yasa were outstanding. Our room steward Joy kept our room super clean and well stocked with clean towels. All dining and cleaning staff work so very hard.

Ship Quality

Very easy to get around. Loved all the different and unique neighborhoods like Boardwalk and Central Park. Especially in Central Park you feel like you are sitting outside in a natural park setting in New York with high-rise apartment balconies surrounding you.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Good but nothing sets it apart from previous cruises I have been on.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

The new Royal Caribbean terminal is beautiful, efficient and well organized. No excursion taken.

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

4 out of 5
Typical crowded streets and cars darting in and out of traffic crazy like most Carribean ports we have visited before. Coxen Hole is crowded and run down. However, we took the Land and Sea Tour and really enjoyed it. Our tour guides Jonathan and Helen did a great job pointing out all the important sites, history and culture. Need an updated van to do the land portion as the air conditioning was barely adequate even in cooler February temperatures. The tour of the coast by boat and snorkeling portion was great.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

5 out of 5
Very clean and modern port. Lots of shopping in the terminal but the sales personnel were overly aggressive constantly interrupting you with offers as you just tried to walk around. Exit instructions not clearly written in excursion papers. We took the 7 Color Lagoon Kayake Adventure at Bakalar Resort. Enjoyed very much although very windy and choppy waters that day. Staff at the resort went over and above to keep you comfortable and refreshed with drinks and food provided. I had never used a kayake before but our tour guide took the time to give me a short training session which helped immensely. Found the kayake experience a little challenging due to my age and the windy conditions but I was able to keep up with our group and finish the trip across the lagoon and back. (Caution: If you are in your sixties or older and don't have good upper body strength I would avoid rowing in a kayake if it is windy like it was the day I went because the lagoon is quite large and it takes a while to get across it}. I thoroughly enjoyed it though.

Cozumel, Mexico

4 out of 5
Like Costa Maya the port terminal in Cozumel is first rate. A big difference though is that the sales personnel are not overly aggressive like those in Costa Maya. However, we stood in a very long line for almost an hour to return to the ship in Cozumel like nothing I have never encountered before on previous cruises. Did not take an excursion.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
The written directions for Self-Assisted departure vs. regular departure were confusing. Others we talked to said much the same. We thought we could just leave our bags outside our stateroom and also leave early based on written disembarkation instructions Royal Carribean provides. However, due to lingering doubts we called Guest Services and they explained finally we didn't have to wait until our assigned 9:30 assigned regular disembarkation time if we would take our bags under Self Assist. Luckily they had not taken our bags yet.
