San Pedro (Los Angeles), California Port Q&A

3.9
What is the best airport to fly into for this cruiseport, and a good safe place to stay for a couple of days? Preferably with a shuttle to the airport and/or cruise port, and breakfast included would be a plus!

There's a DoubleTree right by the port, but not much to do around there... you'd be better off booking a hotel somewhere in downtown Long Beach and booking a Lyft to the port. Not sure which downtown hotels offer a cruise shuttle. (and make sure it goes to Port of Los Angeles NOT the Port of Long Beach. They're different!)

Long Beach Airport

In December we stayed at the Crown Plaza in San Pedro. Very nice. Breakfast included. Shuttle to port was 5.00. The hotel was packed with other cruisers waiting for the shuttle so we opted to walk the ten minutes to the pier. We flew into the Long Beach airport and took a taxi to the hotel. Cost about 45.00 with tip. Would stay at the Crown Again.

LAX or Long Beach LGB are the closest two. LGB is charmingly small and no traffic like LAX has (beware that several spots in and around LAX are under HEAVY construction). I've also had friends fly into Ontario ONT before just because the flights worked out better, it's a small headache-free airport, and they were going to rent a car for 1-2 days before sailing anyway so they drove to their cruise hotel and then turned in the car over there somewhere.

I booked a room at the Vegabond inn San Pedro. Close to Port and have one way shuttle to cruise port. Don't think they offer breakfast anymore though.

We live in Phx so we drive so I can’t give much advise about airports. but we’ve stayed at the Crowne Plaza when we sailed out of San Pedro. Not sure about shuttle from airport but there is one to the cruise port. (even tho it’s less than a mile from the hotel) It seemed safe to us and there are multiple restaurants in the immediate area.

I agree Long Beach airport less crowded than LAX .Also book early for the hotels around the cruise port. I like San Pedro area. Have a good cruise.

lax or long Beach work both about the same distance

Both LAX and LGB are equally good to fly into. The Crowne Plaza on Palos Verdes ST, or the Doubletree are good choices. Not cheap, but very safe. Many cruise passengers stay at both properties.
