Puerto Vallarta, Mexico overview

Hollywood discovered this little fishing village back in the 1960's, and since then luxury resorts and bougainvillea-covered villas have flourished in the delightful seaside climate. Yet hints of past tranquility remain: cobbled courtyards where the locals hold their markets, and superb sport-fishing just offshore.

Peurto Vallarta was our favorite port this cruise! Beautiful place with super friendly locals. We had a blast! We rented a taxi for a couple hours. He took us shopping per our request. Taxi driver was very friendly and professional. Learned some interesting things about their way of life and history. Then we went to a tequila distillery and learned the process of making tequilla. Taste tested six of them. Almond was our favorite. Then he took us to a beautiful beach for pictures of the beach and Puerto Vallarta sign. Dropped us off. We ate lunch on the ship. Then we went on our excursion Rhythms of the Night. This excursion was awesome!! The boat picked us up from the ship. About a 40 minute boat ride to a beautiful island. The locals were warm and friendly. Candlelight dinner was by the beach with music. Unlimited food which was very good. Hammocks by the beach for you to enjoy after dinner. You could also explore the island and buy souveniers while you waited for the show to start. The walk ways were lit by candles and tiki torches. The show was amazing under the stars! Then back on the boat to the ship. Unlimited drinks, dancing and singing to and from the island. They also stopped for everyone to take pics of Puerto Vallarta and our cruise ship at night. They took pictures of us while on the boat and island for a decent price. No obligation to buy the pictures. Definitely would do this excursion again!

This port was my favorite of the 3 ports we visited. We were here late. We walked part of the town. There is a mall and a Walmart right by the port. We took a taxi to a Marriott resort where you pay 28 US and get same amount back in food or drinks. Very nice place with a huge pool. We stayed a few hours then took a taxi back to the boat changed then went to the shopping district. It was lots of fun. This place takes US dollars but change comes back in Pesos only. Know the exchange rate is 18 pesos oer dollar.

Had the best time here! Las caletas was awesome. My girlfriend relaxed in a hammock and I snorkeled all over the place. The water was nice and clear, fish were abundant. Enjoyed the open air restaurant, the atmosphere was just what we were looking for! Only complaint, wished we could have spent much more time there. Highly suggest that excursion.

Review of the Now Amber in Puerto Vallarta. Again Thank you Sheri for the recommendation! We absolutely loved the Now Amber. The taxi ride was $10 USD each way. The all inclusive day pass was $65 USD PP they accept credit and cash and it is good from 9pm to 5pm. But make sure to bring ID(they will hold it until you check out). They also asked us to email to reserve 2 days before arrival to me sure they have day passes available for our particular day, I gather if they are fully booked at the resort or close to they don't allow day passes. We emailed 4 days ahead since we wouldn't have cell service. I will start by saying we will definitely be back. Every single staff member we encountered was so pleasant, happy and helpful. The concierge explained in detail all the restaurants we could go to and the times they were open. The pools are beautiful! The beach is very pretty, lots of umbrellas and lounges to go around wether on the beach or at the pool. Just like in Mazlatan we mostly stick to the pool areas because of the vendors. The drinks were great and they came around asking if you would like to order more, even when in the pool!!! They have a swim up bar at the pool closest to the beach. They had outside huts by the beach for massages. All though we didn't utilize it this time I am sure in the future we will. (I believe the sign said couples massage 50 min for for $99 and 75 min for $129) We ate breakfast and a late lunch at the buffet and it was very good. They do ask you to cover your swimsuits and wear shoes for the restaurants. They had several restaurants at the property 2 weren't open until dinner. But we were told by the concierge we could eat at any of the restaurants. We swam and lounged for hrs. They also have a kids pool with slides and a hot tub. There is kyaks and paddleboards also. The sea was a bit ruff for these activities the day we visited. Check out was super easy, they handed us back our IDs and called a taxi for us. Hubby and Inwould absolutely like to go back and maybe even a land vacay there also!
