Absolutely stunning! We fell in love with the Cinque Terre. I had researched local tour companies before we left and found many expensive private tours. We opted for essentially a hop on hop off boat trip to the 5 villages. The Company was Consorzio Marittimo Turistico 5 Terre. Purchased tickets in the port terminal and it was a short walk to the boat. The boat works to a timetable and you could get off at any of the villages you wished. We went to the furthest village and worked our way back, stopping to explore the little streets, have lunch, soak up the beauty. We have 2 boys so did not want to walk between the villages, we enjoyed viewing each village from the sea - just beautiful!

In La Spezia, we walked to the train station (approximately 20 minutes from the cruise terminal) and took a short train ride to one of the Cinque Terre. We then got on a boat that took us around each of the Cinque Terre, which was beautiful. Afterwards, we took the train back to the centre of La Spezia and got back on the ship. This was a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Pisa trip was great, Florence was very busy as Easter and all the locals were out, too busy to see most of the sights, would be great another time. Lovely to sit in the square at a bar with a bottle of local wine and watch the world go by. Very knowledgeable guide.

Another day, another DIY. We found our way to the train terminal and purchased the Cinque Terre day pass. This pass includes transportation by train to and from La Spezia as well as throughout the park. For those with a weaker bladder, it also provides free access to the toilets - other costing a euro per visit. This region was the highlight of our cruise. Five cliffside villages overlooking the Mediterranean. Plenty of trails for the hiking enthusiast, restaurants and shops for the less adventurous.

Went by train from La Spezia to Cinque Terre and managed to see four of the five villages. Even though the weather was cold and rainy in November it was absolutely amazing. What a beautiful area of Italy. Really not to be missed.
