Suggestions for a day in the Azores

We're taking a trans-atlantic cruise on Princess in April 2019. We'd appreciate advice on how to spend the day in port in the Azores and if anyone has suggestions for tours that are not sponsored by the cruise ship.

Hello, you can walk around the area at the harbor as there are restaurants and shops but as you can imagine these get quite busy when a cruise ship arrives. I would suggest a local guide or driver. We have used Tiago (a local super nice guy, great English) who you can hire for as many hours as you want. You can whatsapp him on +351 912 744 402

For some ideas, we have a guide to Ponta Delgada on our website here, http://www.solar-branco.com/category/guides/ I hope you enjoy your time on the island! Ali

I have no suggestions as I've never been there, but I'm really jealous because I just found out about the Azores earlier this year and I want to visit so badly! Be sure to write a review and post photos after the cruise! :)

for a list of non-ship excursions try the Ship Mate app, it will give you excursions for each port alone with past travelers reviews of things to do and where is good to eat.

When I was there we did a ship excursion up to the twin lakes, visited a small village and then back to a hotel in port for a cheese and wine tasting.
