How Important is the Cruise Director to You When Booking a Cruise?

I have to admit that I have never asked about who the cruise director would be on a cruise that I am booking. Usually I book so far in advance that the cruise line doesn't even know. To me, food, service and itinerary are more important. How important is the cruise director to you?

Never gave it a thought when booking our cruises. Now that there is a discussion regarding cruise directors; Is it just me and my wife that think they are all from GB?? Most of the directors are difficult to understand when their giving their spiel on stage, but even worse and much louder and more difficult to understand when they start on the ships P.A system. Just MHO

My head still hurts from our cruise last September. Nice guy, but the singing got real old real quick.

We wouldn't book a cruise based on the CD, but Jaime Dee and Mike Pack have been head and shoulders over the rest in our experience. They are awesome at involving everyone in the fun and the ship just seemed to have a happy vibe. They were out and about on the ship and involved in lots of the activities.

The CD is not an important factor in booking the cruise. I do sometimes look to see who it is before the sailing, in case it is one we have liked. We have met a few on them along the way and some have made very good impressions. We were very lucky in our early sailing career as the DH met and chatted with the CD on our second cruise. He learned so much about the industry from him, that we have been forever grateful for that encounter. Actually, we sometimes go out of our way to meet the CD if an opportunity arises that would not hinder his/her schedule.

I can't give you 2 thumbs for your reply, but I do agree.

No, Benjamin Lambert

Dr. E???

Seems like we are all in agreement. Some cruise directors are all around the ship and on the dock when in port as you disembark. Others you only see at the shows.

I really don`t care

I could care less. However, on our last trip ( maybe the last two ) Alvin was great. We actually got to meet him. That's the first time in over 20 cruises we met the CD.

I have had good ones and not-so-good ones, but I do not really remember any of them.

Who the CD is on a ship, to me, has the same gravity as who the Maître D' is, or the Captain, or the janitor.
