Carnival Takes Home Several Awards
The 2023 Member Choice Awards were recently announced using review data from Cruiseline.com and Shipmate members sailing during the last calendar year. Carnival Cruise Line bested their performance last year compared to other mainstream cruise lines, and several ships in the fleet took home awards, placing in the top 10 of all cruise ships. Like other cruise lines, Carnival had to navigate a challenging year of ever-changing health protocols. In addition, being a family-focused cruise line, some younger sailors could not sail in the early part of the year. However, by mid to late 2022, as restrictions eased and eventually lifted, passengers of all ages could enjoy the excitement of the FunShips.

Carnival raised its ranking in the best mainstream cruise line category from fourth place last year to third place this year, while its rating remained relatively unchanged at 4.33 versus 4.34 in 2022. Notably, mere hundredths of a point separated Carnival from the first and second-place cruise lines this year.
Carnival's best onboard activities/entertainment score increased from 4.02 last year to 4.16 this year. This raise in score elevated the line from fifth place to third overall this year. Undoubtedly contributing to the overall score increase are the rave reviews from the newest ships in the fleet, Mardi Gras, and Carnival Celebration.
Finally, the best line for service and staff saw Carnival finally breaking into the top five across all cruise lines. No doubt this was partly due to the entire Carnival fleet being back in service by May 2022 while other cruise lines were still phasing ships into service.

Scheduled to debut in 2020, Mardi Gras was delayed due to the shutdown of cruising. The ship finally welcomed guests onboard her first sailing on July 31, 2021. Being met with rave reviews, Mardi Gras took home our award of Best New Ship last year. The ship continued to receive high marks making a debut in the top 10 of Best Overall Cruise Ships and ranked ninth for onboard activities and entertainment this year.
Carnival Celebration launched in January 2022, and with a full year of reviews and a highly competitive year for new ships, earned a respectable fifth place. We expect continued high marks for this beautiful ship as she embodies 50 years of Carnival cruising history.
Keep an eye out for the newest ship in the fleet, Carnival Jubilee, which launched in January 2023 to make a big splash in next year's awards.
