Ship: Zaandam

Cabin type: Oceanview

Traveled as: Couple

Review summary

The ship is impressive to look at. It is smaller in size with just over 1400 passengers. Built in 2000. It is missing a good, time-killing bar with tv's. Even if the tv's had dvd's playing it would be alright.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Food quality was not disappointing. Rack of lamb one night. Filet Mignon & Lobster another. Lamb shank another. I did not have dinner in the Lido restaurant so, I can not speak to that. We had a nightly, 8:00, sitting in one of the dining rooms. Staff is impeccable.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The staff, from top to bottom, was great. Example: Every time we left the room to go eat, play, whatever, we would return to a tidy-ed up room. Once our keys didn't work. Went to front office to get them 'recharged'. The worker offered to come all the way to our room with the new keys to make sure they worked. They worked...of course. But, so did the other ones - they worked because I was unknowingly trying to use hotel keys from the night before to open my new stateroom. So, rest assured, these keys work for the whole cruise. Just, make sure you get rid of your hotel keys. ;)

Pros: The cuisine. Not a megaplex super ship. The crew.

Cons: Too, many formal nights. Needs a good sportsbar w/tv's.
