My first Wind Star cruise but they do everything I like when on a cruise ship and with so few people it was never crowded and I did not have to plan to avoid a crowd at any time. You spend much more time in port and sail at night so really get to experience the "real" caribbean. I had no complaints about the ship or the cruise experience and can't wait to experience another one soon.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
I was one of later to embark at 6:30 PM as cruise changed from St Maarten to Barbados and they delayed sail away until midnight. I walked right on ship
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
Food and service were tremendous and deck cook out with lobster, whole pig, etc and steel drum was such a treat
The Veranda
5 out of 5
Beautiful spot for berrakfast and lunch and you can sit inside or out and buffet or order off menu and will bring to you. Cold bar with smoothies (which were good) yogurt, fresh squeezed orange juice, etc. Lunch had grilled to order hamburgers etc and also a menu of fresh cooked items and buffet of lunch items. I liked to sit outside and watch the water and islands.
The Yacht Club Cafe'
5 out of 5
Great for my morning coffee at 6 am and they had coffee specialty drinks also with pastry etc and had sandwiches and deserts at lunch until 6 PM. Nice little stop anytime of day
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
two music groups played and enjoyed the lack of other things like shows on bigger ships since I never went to them anyway
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Best service I have ever experienced, I don't demand to be waited on hand and foot but they were always there and ready to assist
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Like being on a private yacht just like they say
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Very nice and plenty of room and liked the shower
Ship tip
there are lounge chairs on bridge deck forward that always seemed to be empty
took excursion before return to airport that drove around Barbados and stopped for lunch and tour of old sugar plantation, good way to spend time before airport
tender dropped us off inside the park and walked up steep hill to old fort and walked around to see the old ruins of barracks, views of ocean and two nice bars on the property to get a refreshing drink.
walked up hill to old fort and then took taxi to grand anse beach and spend time at Coconuts bar and restaurant on the beach, nice day and beautiful beach
walked to top of hill for beautiful views of Tobago Cays and this is where we had the beach Bar B Q and they really do a great job and had a steel drum that played to make this a perfect day
walked around and beach right at where we were dropped off was not as nice as others but found a nice beachfront bar and spent some time as this was our first stop and was trying to get a feel for the island.
Not like getting off larger ships and relaxed and easy to do, if you have a later flight I suggest you take the Barbados and plantation tour to spend a few hours
