Throughout my years cruising with Holland America, I have noticed they are geared for the older crowds especially cruises to Alaska. Recently HAL has been making efforts to have activities for all age groups. Late night activities meant for the younger crowd whilst having cooking activists during the day for the older crowds. Onboard any HAL ship you feel like you have the decision to completely relax and go to the spa, sit on the pool deck and relax in the hot tub, or simply sit in your stateroom and watch a movie. On the other hand you can go to the Northern Lights and drink boo’s and non alcoholic drinks and jam out to some amazing music or try some karaoke, head on over to the casino and spend your life savings away, head over to the BB kings club and listen to some music, stay up till 10pm or so and go on a bar hop to all the bars and head back to your stateroom at 3am buzzed! If your a kiddo under the age of 18 most HAL ships have arcades, If not head to HALS teen club or teens club etc. the clubs are open daily and have a variety of different activists kids can participate in, or they can go play Xbox or watch movies together, the ideas are continuous. Sad to hear you didn’t exactly enjoy the crowd you cruised on, although it sounds like you didn’t involve yourself rather than the cruise not involving you! Anyways I hope this experience doesn’t stop you from experiencing one of HALS DAM ships again.

Holland America is really geared for older folks

See - you did good! Maybe all about the ship was not ideal, but you made up for it in the excursions. Hope the next one is a better shipboard experience for you.
