Review summary

Overall good cruise. Positives are excellent entertainment and a wide variety of daytime activities to keep you entertained. Staff onboard are very friendly and go above and beyond to satisfy guests. Lows: ship needs updating and cabins are very outdated. Windjammer buffet is very hectic and the food ranges from good to mediocre at best. Too much upselling disguised as activities on the daily agenda.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation was smooth and quick. No issues.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Specialty dining (Chops, Giovanni) were excellent. Food in main dining good, not great. Windjammer (push and shove buffet) tends to be below average for lunch and dinner

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
Fitness center wad not good. Strength training area was extremely cramped, especially for the number of passengers. Equipment was also very limited compared to other cruise ships I have been on. Pool was okay. We did not participate in rock climbing or water slides.

Entertainment

1 out of 5
Excellent entertainment. Fantastic Broadway quality performances.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Excellent staff that is friendly and goes above and beyond to satisfy the customer.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Ship was clean but needs updating. Cabins especially feel old and outdated. Cabin stewards worked hard to keep rooms clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

2 out of 5
Our cabin facing a bar that played music late so it was very noisy. We also had issues with the heater not working and soot coming from the AC vent. However guest services did the right thing and moved us to a better cabin.

Ship tip

Choose your cabin wisely by reviewing the deck plan. This will help to avoid ending up with a noisy cabin. Avoid upselling (art gallery, spa) disguised on the daily agenda as activities.

Ports of call

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

2 out of 5
Rome is way too far from the cruise port and getting to Rome is confusing

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Smooth. No issues.
