Review summary

My wife and I find the Vision class to be perfect for our cruises. It is not a floating amusement park but has plenty for us to do.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation was very smooth and fast. It helps to complete all the pre-cruise items on the Royal Caribbean app before arriving at the port. Embarkation seems to be getting faster every time we cruise.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
I see another of people complaining about the quality of the food and service, but we did not have anything to complain about.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Being older, there are a lot of activities we can no longer do. This ship is great for finding a quiet corner to just relax and watch the world go by.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We only went to one show on board. It was called "The Long Run" and was a group that sang Eagles hits. They were exceptional. The other shows didn't appeal to us, I'm sure the singers and dancers were great.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
This ship has the friendliest crew we've experienced. Everyone goes out of their way to make sure your cruise is enjoyable. There is one waiter who normally wears a vest with numerous law enforcement badges. He is called the sheriff. He served us drinks in the Windjammer Cafer but wasn't wearing his usual vest. He lifted the bottom edge of his unadorned vest to one solitary badge. "I'm undercover," he said.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
For it's age the Vision of the Seas is in great shape and is well maintained. Most of the elevators have been upgraded with new car interiors and controls. Also, the shops have a new layout and decor that is fresh and appealing.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
A Grand Suite is a very satisfying way to travel. Ship motion is not too bad and will rock you to sleep. There is some noise from the deck above, but it is not severe or overly noisy. The ship does creak a bit in moderate seas. The coffee machine may require some explanation from your cabin attendant. I had it overflow the cups provided while using the Lungo setting. One new feature is the motion sensor light that helps during night visits to the bathroom. The shower, if you are the first in the morning, can take a while to provide hot water. Overall, we really enjoyed this stateroom.

Ship tip

Enjoy your voyage. You are in capable hands.

Ports of call

Baltimore, Maryland

Royal Naval Dockyard, West End, Bermuda

There's good quality shopping in the Clocktower building and near the ship. One of the best places to eat and drink is The Frog and Onion restaurant and bar. Great food; we had fish and chips that were cooked to perfection. We had previously visited Bermuda before. So we just wandered around the Dockyard this time.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
This was the fastest disembarkation we have ever experienced. For those who don't bring passports, there is a long line to wait in for processing. With a passport, one only has to use the facial recognition system, and you are on your way.
