Review summary

It is more affordable than many, and Baltimore does a good job of serving the cruise industry. We had enough activities on board to stay entertained and also to relax. It is a decent option for older folks, especially with an adult only solarium. The included food as noted was not very good but the management and chefs appear to be committed to improving. Did not visit the specialty restaurants or bars.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The food quality and flavor improved over the week, due in part to passenger feedback. Main dining room was chaotic, overwhelmed, and we chose the buffet for the duration of cruise. Desserts and breads were good. Main courses and sides definitely were lacking in flavors, meats were sometimes overcooked or tough, carved way too thick or served with skin, fat and burnt ends.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Hot tubs, sauna, steam room, spa demonstrations. Walked several miles on topside track. Shuffleboard. Morning stretch and fitness classes were fun and energizing. A great space for us was the adults only area with a small pool, 2 hot tubs and lots of seating.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Stage shows we attended were good. Rockport band was excellent.

Children's Programs

No kids with me

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everyone we encountered was helpful, pleasant and positive. We felt heard and our compliments were appreciated.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Very clean and we observed conscientious maintenance. It's an older ship so you don't have USB ports and only one electrical outlet in small cabins. A spa shower fixture broke, and one backed up but was rapidly repaired. Shipwide power outage was brief but it did cause an hour delay getting into port. Workers were around painting, resurfacing and polishing areas.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Beds were separated and we had more space as a result. The ship is old so limited power and charging options. The cabin was small as we expected but we had enough storage cubbies and hangers. Our steward was excellent.

Ship tip

This is a beloved older ship, and popular due to convenient Baltimore location.

We were allowed to leave when the gangway opened as we handled our own luggage.
