This was such a memorable experience for us, and we hope to return to Vision of the Seas again soon!! Because of the amazing opportunities on this ship we’re now dedicated cruisers for life.
Embarkation

Super easy as we were able to park right in front of the ship and walk directly into the terminal.

Food and Dining

My husband and I are pretty good cooks, so we were looking forward more to the service aspect of meals above anything else (which Visions staff far exceeded).
However, we were pleased with every meal we had, and we tried nearly every place there was to eat. If you know what you like to eat, and are a smartly order your meals you’ll be consistently pleased.
We also went to Giovanni’s and Chops, which were WELL worth it! We originally weren’t planning on eating at any of the specialty restaurants, but Charles (one of the head waiters who was great and very attentive) came up to us and offered a discount so of course we had to try them! We’re so glad we did - both meals were among the best we’ve had on vacation anywhere

Our waiters (Ahmad and Adam) were so attentive and made suggestions based on how they saw we ordered after the first few days. The only meal we missed was Day 6 (A Taste of Mexico) so I can’t speak to that meal but some standouts choices we made were: - Shrimp Cocktail: a small portion, but fresh and enjoyable every time and of course you can always ask for more!- Pecan Crusted Salmon: crunchy and cooked to perfection- Chicken Marsala: very flavorful and a perfect portion for dinner, plus the mashed potatoes were great everywhere on the boat!- Warm Chocolate Cake and the Basked Alaska were personal favorites for dessert, but every dessert we saw come out looked delicious!
Park Cafe

Awesome option, especially for us as we always went to the later show options so would love to get a snack once the shows were over around 10. Who doesn’t love a slice of pizza before heading to bed?!
Windjammer Marketplace

Food was about what you would expect at a buffet, but they had wide selections so even picky eaters could find something. The view from the front of the seating area can’t be beat, and Dashaun (one of the servers who consistently waited on us) was SO great!!
Onboard Activities

Very enjoyable!
Swimming Pools

I was expecting to spend most of my time at the Solarium, but I love the cold and the main pool area was empty at almost all times! Hot Tubs and the pool were both always clean and felt great, I think I spent 6/10 days enjoying both.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The Cruise Director Bal (I think I’m spelling that wrong I apologize) and his staff (standouts were the DJ and Megan) all did a great job getting guests excited and engaged. They know their audience, so for younger people without kids like us there were a few things that weren’t geared to us per say but that’s okay - there was always SOMETHING we found to do.
Masquerade Theater
5 out of 5
My husband and I both enjoyed all of the shows! One comedian I wasn’t too big of a fan of, but that might have just been personal preference. All the musical performances from the Masquerade Theater (the Broadway style singers and dancers were so talented) to those in the Centrum and the Lounged were consistently so good!! Beyond that, we both LOVED the juggler and the saxophonist! Worth seeing twice for both the 7 and 9:15 shows honestly.
Children's Programs

We didn’t travel with children but they did seem to have quite a few programs for them. However, this cruise is definitely geared more towards an older crowd.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Wow wow WOW - Vision has been rated the friendliest ship on the seas, and it’s easy to see why. This was our first cruise and our honeymoon to boot, and the level of attention, care, and genuine lovely attitudes of every single staff member blew us away!! We hope all of the guests appreciated the care that the staff takes to make sure we were all taken care of. We didn’t have to worry about a thing for ten days - it was pure bliss!!
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The ship is older, but she barely shows her age. The staffs attention to detail clearly extends to making sure Visiom stays in tip top shape. Of course there are a few things missing that newer ships might have, but honestly we hardly noticed. Our housecleaning attendant Anecito took special care to always keep are room spotless!
Cabin / Stateroom

Very comfortable for a couple, and plenty of storage space. And again, Anecito was the BEST!
Ship tip
Make sure to tip your staff and crew if you’re financially able - they do so much and truly made this trip beyond memorable! There is an ATM onboard that cashed out USD, but there’s a $6.50 fee so if you’re planning to tip you might want to withdraw money at the ports.
We had no idea Halifax was so expansive, so we would have loved another day there but we can always return on another cruise with Vision! :) we went to the Maritime Museum and I’ve always been fascinated by the titanic disaster so I was looking forward to going here since we booked the trip and it’s an immaculately maintained museum.
The one excursion we booked through Royal was the Ghosts and Gravestones tour and we were so pleased! It was a little pricey worth the money - you’re picked up right at the terminal, guides through the city on a decorated Trolley but a local who points out so many cool points of interest, get out of the Trolley twice to walk through a few graveyards, and then can get off the trolley either downtown or back at the terminal. If you decided to get off downtown to do more sightseeing on your own you can then take any of the company’s buses straight back to the terminal when you’re done.
A beautiful city with a million and one things to do and see - perfect for any history lover!
We don’t live far from Baltimore so we’ve been many times before but for anyone coming in from out of state it’s a great city and worth coming early or staying later to check out this awesome town full of history!
A great stop for anyone who loves nature. My husband and I walked to the Reversing Waterfall - a beautiful walk where we got to see a bunch of older houses with incredible architecture - and got to see the natural wonder that is the Reversing waterway! This was a bit of a hike though, so for anyone who might not be up for it I encourage you to take a bus over there. We also enjoyed the shipyard marketplace and got to try poutine and beaver tails for the first time!! We also loved the Loyalist House, and if you stop by the shipyard marketplace go to the shop maintained by the town of St. John’s and speak to the Ranger/attendant about the walking tours and maps available.
I’ve been to Maine before and it might be my favorite state in the USA so I could be biased but Portland is absolutely gorgeous. We could have just sat at the port and taken in the ocean views all day! We ended up taking the Narrow Gauge Train ride which was so much fun, then got a Lobster Roll at Hellraisers, and walked around the Eastern Cemetery taking in the history.
