Review summary

Luckily we had beautiful weather for the entire cruise, but I will never again go on the Vision of the Sea.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Good

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
The food on the buffet was a disappointment every day for every meal with the exception of a few breakfasts

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
I would not give a 5star because the inside more passive activities were sometimes repetitive.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Great

Children's Programs

We didn't have kids

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Excellent service from all staff, especially the assistant waiter we had in the main dining room.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
The ship was clean. But it was an older ship which could have used a face lift. Numerous bathrooms were not working and one of the main elevators

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
The cabin was fine except that you had to shuffle sideways to get into bed.

Ship tip

Do not go on Vision because of the horrible food!

Ports of call

Baltimore, Maryland

5 out of 5

Boston, Massachusetts

5 out of 5

Portland, Maine

4 out of 5
The ports were all friendly but could not hear the tour guide on our excursion

Saint John, New Brunswick

4 out of 5

Halifax, Nova Scotia

Sydney, Nova Scotia

4 out of 5
The port was nice but the lobster boil we attended was not very tasty.

We just got off the Vision yesterday. It was a 9 night cruise to New England & Canada. While it was enjoyable, for the most part, it didn’t meet our level of pre-cruise excitement. I can agree with the majority of your post.

I apologize for the cheerleaders who blame you for the poor experience you had. I always wonder if these people are shills. We are very experienced cruisers and we are seeing more and more negative reviews...especially about the food and overall ship appearance. Royal has been focusing on producing ships that are giant playgrounds (I wanted to use the term "carnival" ). The older ships are in dire need of upgrades and refurbishment. The curtains on Oasis were so damaged and full of holes, it looked like I would imagine a Motel 6 to have. The MDR food is a disgrace...between the presentations and food quality. After 66 Royal cruises, I can honestly say that Royal is on a slippery slope to the bottom. Customer retention cannot be attained with the direction they are going.

Yes it is an older ship. Was that a surprise? Turning sideways to get into bed is not uncommon! Maybe cruising us not your cup of tea!

Appreciate your feedback. Sorry this cruise didn’t meet your expectations.

If you’re basing it all down to the Buffett…then you’ll be bouncing from cruise line to cruise line….they are all subjective.

I don’t understand one star for the dining. Buffet is a Buffet It’s never going to be great.
