Review summary

Great staff, clean ship, loved Bermuda! The ride was rough on the way out with quite a few guests and staff getting sea sick. I really wish the ship could've offered better food choices in the only buffet onboard and I also wish the ship had more offerings that spanned the 24-hour clock. In comparison to other RC and Carnival ships the VotS was really lacking.

Embarkation

Super fast, organized, and easy

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Windjammer cafe served the same food every day except the final day. The cafe closed early and there wasn't a source of 24/7 food onboard other than room service. I will say though that the final day in the Windjammer was GREAT! If the rest of the cruise was as good as the final day they would've received a much higher rating. All of the staff were top notch and the facilities are kept very clean!

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Pools were closed on multiple ocassions due to high sea state. Same with the rock climbing wall. I don't think the rock climbing wall ever opened except maybe when we were in port. The 10th deck was also closed quite a bit due to inclement weather. I think the cruise would've been better if we sprinted to the island and spent more time in Bermuda (better hours too).

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Activities director, stage shows, and comedians were all great. The family really enjoyed the parade of flags on the final day. I wish they would've spread the quality activities over the entire cruise instead of scheduling all of the great events on the final day at sea!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
This is where the ship exceeded all expectations. All of the staff were awesome. If I had to provide any feedback or suggestions it would be to tone down the upselling routine and limit the amount of soliciting positive feedback. The later was a little annoying at times.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
We were on the 4th deck in the forward portion of the ship. That was an awesome place to be. We were close to everything and adjacent to the elevators that weren't used as much. Overall, the ship was very clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Nice room and better than expected. I wish there was more air circulation though. Even though our room stayed cool, at times, at night the room seemed to get warm because of the lack of air circulation other than that coming from the A/C. The beds left a lot to be desired. Every night I woke up with back, neck, and leg pain. I wasn't the only one. I was reluctant to say anything until I heard the same from quite a few other guests.

Ship tip

Be ready for great staff!

Ports of call

Baltimore, Maryland Did not visit port

Only embarked and disembarked. I wouldn't classify this as a port of call.

Royal Naval Dockyard, West End, Bermuda

5 out of 5
All I can say is awesome. I've been all around the Caribbean and Bermuda had the nicest residents, was the cleanest, and had a ton to offer. I wish we would've had different hours though. We landed at 1230pm and left at 1230pm the next day. While the overnight stay was great, the times really limited the amount of daytime activities we could participate in. With most business closing at 4 or 5pm it didn't leave enough time to see some of the sites at the north end of the island or participate in the activities that are half day long or so.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Beyond awesome!!!! Hands down, the easiest and most efficient disembarkation I've ever had (going back to pre-9/11 days).
