Review summary

My only problem was with the drink package. Had to by 1 and 2nd one half off. My Mom does not drink. So we were both charged $672.00 EACH.

I don't have to tell you. $1300 smackers can buy a lot of drinks, drink package or not. I gotta wonder if your total bar bill would have only been half of that amount if you had just paid by the drink.

Royal drink package , well as individual drink pricing, has gotten too expensive.

Appreciate your feedback. We learned the first time that the drink package wasn’t cost effective for us. So we buy our drinks as desired and don’t worry about. Granted you can’t really prepay when you do that way, but we factor that into our expenditures.

Yeah, it's definitely a racket! It's among the largest actual money makers for the cruise lines. There are only two reasons to get the alcohol package. Both are not good ones, unfortunately. 1) Sheer Convenience 2) You are a borderline drinking machine. You are generally better buying by the drink. Just get the beverage package. But I read that cruiselines make about 65-80% profit on the alcohol package. So they are fully aware they are taking advantage of shipmates. But unless people just stop buying the alcohol packages. I really can't see them changing anything.

I just did this for my husband he can’t drink due to health issues so we purchased the deluxe beverage package which is non alcoholic version of drinks it was 188.00 and then I purchased the alcohol package for myself. You have to call though

You know you can drink on a cruise without buying a drink package, right? You just wasted all that money when you could've paid for each drink individually.

If you choose to cruise again, and get the alcohol drink package, call Royal and ask them to give your mom the Refreshment Package. It provides all the same benefits as the Deluxe Package but without alcohol, and it's cheaper.
