Review summary

A Diamond plus member and soon to be pinnacle, I am loyal to Royal. Until now, I have never been disappointed with the many cruises I’ve taken. My April 2022 trans-Atlantic to Barcelona, with a b2b 8 day cruise in the Mediterranean, were in so many ways the cruises from hell, however. I could write volumes on the many issues my wife and I had, but I’ll limit my comments to just a few of them. From beginning to end, there was a TOTAL lack of communication between the various departments on the ship. When I went to guest services for help with an issue—and I spent many hours there!—they were oftentimes limited by the incorrect info they got from other staff. For example, when I contacted guest services because we had not yet received our complimentary bottles of wine on the second leg of our cruise, room service incorrectly informed them that we were not entitled to wine on b2b cruises! When I went to guest services because our sea pass cards wouldn’t open one of our stateroom doors, it took me FIVE visits to the desk before I could finally get in. It took staff that long to determine that our stateroom door lock was malfunctioning. My wife and I ended up staying in 5 different cabins in 5 days because of various issues, primarily an all night banging behind our interior cabin so we co hi don’t sleep. Staff never could figure out what was causing all the noise. Also, nobody showed up—NOBODY—to a Cheers with an Officer event because the person responsible for sending out the invitations didn’t do his or her job. It lust went on and on for 22 days—an endless breakdown of communication, total confusion of staff, and so on.

Ship tip

Sail with caution. There is a TOTAL lack of communication between the various departments on this ship. Plan to spend lots of time at guest services. Good luck!

Wow, but do realize you took a cruise that most people only dream of being able to take

If those were the worst things that happened in three weeks then I would be OK with it. Things happen. Door locks stop working, ship officer doesn't show up to greeting, weird noises, and of course, with getting back to cruising, staff not knowing the answers. Maybe give them 6 months and try again.

Sorry all this happened. Appreciate your feedback. I am hoping cruising will rebound sooner than later.
