Review summary
We took a family cruise during Spring Break for my mom, myself and two daughters (16 and 21). I choose VOS because a well known travel site I use showed a travel deal for VOS. After some research, I booked it. We got to Galveston to explore the city before the cruise. The embarkation went pretty smoothly as we arrived a bit early. However, I noticed several people bringing packages of bottled water and canned sodas onboard. When I asked our check in agent about this since the rules states only 2 bottles of wine are allowed, she said yes we could bring what ever we wanted. So much for following their own rules. Day two was really rocky and many in my family experienced sea sickness due to traveling through a storm that night (we later found out) even despite the bands they wore; many others aboard experienced the same. Apparently this ship is smaller and more dated than some others they have. We had some fun but by day three it became a bit redundant with the same music, trivia games (where winners received RC plastic pens), drunken people stammering every where, and leaving trash for others to pick up behind them. The hot tubs stayed over capacity where guests overstayed a reasonable amount of time and left their drink glasses and other trash. The cruise was not very family or teen oriented; there was little for families with teens to do, young females walked around in scantily clad clothing being loud and using profanity (polite way to say it), the arcade needs a major upgrade and the bars over served guests. Food at the WindJammer was mediocre, the bread stayed hard and they cycled some of the same food out through the next day. Many things are geared for you to pay more combined with additional gratuities for your purchase. Guest services and Facets staff could use more training on customer relations. A lady in Guest Services at night was rude to a staff member right in front of me and the staff in Facets were rude because the agenda showed a champange farewell was to happen in their location. When we got there a bit early, they play the old 'let's play the blame' game because it seemed as if they did not get the memo that the event was to happen there. When I asked about it since I had no idea I was in the correct spot, the female staffer quickly denounced working for the ship and stated she worked for another company and was not in some meeting. What! I just asked if she knew if was held there so i can be sure if i was in the right location. All the while anothe male staffer was rude with his fellow co-worker, rudely stating he was too busy. In sum, I will not be returning to VOS.Embarkation

Ship tip
Be prepared for a rocky ride if there's a storm, bring extra entertainment and money for gratuities because everything costs; even your purchases.
