Vision of the Seas

Sail date: October 28, 2011

Ship: Vision of the Seas

Cabin type: Suite

Traveled as: Couple

Review summary

Food in the Windjammer has deteriorated from earlier cruises on Royal Caribbean; likewise main dining room choices were only average. Vision of the Seas does NOT have any specialty restaurants or much in the way of alternatives. The evening shows were mediocre; with the best being the ship's own singers and dancers. One headliner missed connection and the show was cancelled; another night all they did was show movies. Crew members remain friendly but our cabin attendant was slow... with our room not being made up every day until 2:00pm or later as I guess we were near the bottom of his list.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
Poor food in Windjammer; average selections in main dining room ... generally below standard of previous Royal Caribbean cruises

Entertainment

1 out of 5
Best: ship's own singers and dancers; Worst: movies instead of live entertainment; cancelled headliner

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Generally well-behaved

Ship Quality

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Junior Suite was smaller than on other ships; on board television was poor; moveis generally changed every 2 days, but Bad Day at Black Rock (which I used to love as a moviee) was shown continuously for 7 straight days.

Ports of call

Haifa, Israel

3 out of 5
Due to rockets at Ashdod, we remained in Haifa 3 nights, making the commute to Jerusalem very arduous and long (2 1/2 hours) turning visits into day long treks.

Istanbul, Turkey

5 out of 5
Don't Miss: Hagia Sophia; Blue Mosque, Tokapi Palace

Kusadasi (Ephesus), Turkey

5 out of 5
Ephesus is a real gem, must see!!!
Don't Miss: Ephesus

Piraeus (Athens), Greece

3 out of 5
Everything in Greece is a must see... and we had seen it all before.

Pros: Ports of Call

Cons: the Ship
