Disappointed in Viking, as was surprised how they treat people with slight disabilities. I think most first time folks with any physical problems won't be back. At least, that's what they told me.
Embarkation

Superior. No wait what so ever! Wonderful
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Average food in most areas. Good service in main dining room and specialty restaurants. No one offers to help disabled folks in buffets. You're basically on your own. Need to take rollator to carry your own plate. Chefs Table has set menu that changes every three days. If you don't like it there are no substitutions available. The Italian restaurant doesn't offer a Caesar salad, Caprese salad made with cherry tomatoes? No veal dishes, no meatballs, no Italian sausage dishes. However, you can get fried shrimp as an appetizer. Special steaks tuff. No more than 1/2" thick. Bread the same every night. Greasy and cold.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Am not so mobile, so did not utilize facilities.
Entertainment
Didn't attend shows.
Children's Programs
Viking does not allow children.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Stewards and waiters all very good in sit down restaurants. However, in buffets you're on your own, as basically no one offers to help you carry your food. In two weeks maybe had 2-3 offers to help.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Ship is immaculate. Never saw a spot of rust or anything that needed fixing. Not at all ADA compliant and virtually no help provided by crew to handicapped folks needing assistance.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Cabin small, but adequate. Spotless and had great stewards who took care of our every need.
Ship tip
If you have any mobility issues, don't go! Mobility scooters, electric wheelchairs, anything with a battery not allowed. Even if you could bring them you couldn't get off the ship, as gangways usually have steps and little if no help is provided by crew. Basically, the ship is not ADA compliant and is nothing like most other cruise lines I have been on, where crewmen are eager to lend a hand if needed.
Sorry for your experience on the Mars. We were on the Mars a year ago and we saw several passengers that had mobility issues. The crew were helping them all of the time. One gentleman was wheelchair bound and he was helped to do a few easy excursions. Sad to hear about your experience.
