Review summary

Excellent cruise experience! I loved my Viking River Cruise experience and want to travel on one again. Although I was not the average age demographic of guest (I am in my 30s, most guests are 40+) I had a wonderful time with my family and made new friends. For a bit of travel advice, I would not travel on Easter weekend to Europe again because unlike in America where our Easter holiday is typically 1-2 days off, Easter is the largest holiday across the board in all the countries visited. (Starting on Good Friday through Monday and in some places, Tuesday) It was disappointing to spend a huge amount on a travel (and a 3 year reschedule) to not get to experience more local shops, cafes and museums because the majority were closed. However, this did not hinder my travel experience by much, as it was wonderful to take long walks around the beautiful cities and experience a different part of the world. The tours and excursions were excellent and I learned a lot. This will not be my last Viking River Cruise.

Embarkation

The shuttle service was excellent and made getting to and from the airport a breeze. Other Viking guests and shuttle employees were easy to spot with the red tags and red uniforms

Having a French balcony was perfect for this type of trip. It was nice to be able to see the local scenery when moving along the river. Very comfortable.

Ship tip

Viking Cruises are very scheduled and activities start early. Be on time! If you want to experience local things in your free time, do some research beforehand so you can calculate how much time you have before disembarking to the next port.

Ports of call

Budapest, Hungary

This was my favorite city to visit! I should have done the trip extension to see and do more. I loved the history lessons on the tours.

Bratislava, Slovakia

Vienna, Austria

4 out of 5
I would have liked an extra day in Vienna because the city is so large and there are more things to do other than look and shop in the main shopping districts. I loved learning the history on the walking tours. I should have added an extra excursion or planned in my free time a trip to a local museum.

Krems, Austria

5 out of 5
Lovely city! Unfortunately because it was Easter weekend, most everything was closed.

Linz, Austria

Loved this city! Holiday weekend, so most everything was closed. I would have liked the have experienced this city with more shops, cafes and museums open. Especially since the port location was so close to the city center and museums.

Passau, Germany

5 out of 5
Holiday weekend, some places open but not everything. I still enjoyed this city a lot.

Disembarkation
