Review summary

Having been multi-time ocean cruises, including Viking, this was a very different experience. Much less to do onboard.

A bit confused as to early embarkation from hotel to ship. Ship available earlier than we were told. Friendly staff at reception.

Limited choices vs Ocean cruising. Excellent service by crew; especially, Maitre d’.

Very little activity available except sightseeing.

Entertainment

Limited entertainment. Spotty quality. Superb Danube lecturer. Good opera singers. Average. Local group.

Service and Staff

Poor room Steward who let supplies run out. Excellent other services. Exceptional Maitre D’ and Program Director. Reclusive Captain who did not speak English.

Very comfortable bed. Room size only 135-150 sq ft and little storage. Must put suitcases under bed. Very limited closet space.

Ship tip

Major difference in size between Veranda cabins and all other types. Not everyone will find non-balcony cabins acceptable. Balconies have extra storage.

Very little to see in Linz... another typical town. Spent day touring Cesky Kremlin in Slovakia. Lovely medieval city. Unfortunately, castle tour only includes external gardens. Wonderful daytime cruise in Wachau Valley.
