Review summary

This cruise was made especially enjoyable as we were with family. But it would have been wonderful even without them. The hotels, especially the Sheraton, with it's sky bar overlooking the city and incredible view of the Eiffel Tower at night, were first class. Meals, both in the hotels and on board Hild were delicious, with wide variety. As always, Viking staff are amazing, friendly, thorough, and overall customer oriented. This was our third Viking cruise and we purchased two additional vouchers so we are coming back soon.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Well organized by Viking, but Charles DeGaulle is awful.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Service was first class with food and beverages superb.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Music provided by Enzo was great. The cooking demonstration and presentation on France and Germany were informative and enjoyable. A medieval music concert was especially entertaining and educational.

Entertainment

See comments above.

Children's Programs

No children on Viking ships.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our staff was friendly, efficient, and meticulous. Hats off to Jane our Program Director, who is a dynamo. Stateroom attendant, Mira, wait staff, Yanni, Caithlin, and Edgar made us feel like we were the only passengers on board. Philippe and Fellix kept everything running smootly and shipshape.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
It should be noted the ship was changed to Hild, but, as always, clean and well organized. We particularly liked the large shower and soft floor lights in the bathroom.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Or cabin was ample-sized, layed out well and with a wonderful view and veranda, even if we didn't spend to much time on it because of the time of year.

Ship tip

Be prepared for long delays and confusion at Charled DeGaulle. Weather was mostly fine, but can be unpredictable this time of year. Dress accordingly.

Ports of call

Trier, Germany

Great guides and tours. Wine tasting was fun.

Bernkastel, Germany

As with all the ports of call, we were overwhelmed with the cathedrals, castles, and history. Guides were all teriffic.

End Of Vacation

5 out of 5
The Christmas markets were open only in Zurich and we loved them It was fun and easy to ride the tram. The lake cruise was beautiful

Disembarkation

The staff, especially Jane McElneay (sp?) were well organized and attentive. Charles DeGaulle was a nightmare.
