An excellent cruise for folks interested in Roman and French history and , of course, French wines. Excellent food and drink. Viking does not disappoint. Susie the cruise director was very attentive and enthusiastic. Shore excursions were very informative and well organized. Viking handled the embarkation and debarkation process seamlessly.

Viking is outstanding as a destination cruise specialist. They are friendly, helpful, and determined to make this your best cruise ever. We will be cruising with them again in the future.

The staff of the Delling were friendly, helpful and professional. The longship was clean and modern and the food was fabulous. An issue with faulty air conditioning was handled well and it was obvious that passenger comfort was important to Viking. I would recommend the Delling to all of my friends. A great experience! I travelled with my mother but that choice doesn't show up below. Our room type also doesn't show up but I chose "ocean view," the closest choice to the French Balcony on a river cruise.

Can't say enough about the Delling crew, ship, and service.  With a gluten allergy Chief Daniel made a personal effort to provide me with option to enjoy his culinary talents.  Well appointed rooms, public areas and lounges.  Viking offers many excursions that are included and a wonderful additional options.  A lot of time is spent on tour coaches traveling to the tour locations, but that is an option that is at the travelers discretion.  Optional tour was guided by Nico..........Can't say enough about his knowledge, and personality.

Viking's cruise plan is well thought out. The Viking staff exceed expectations by any measure. The visible staff are helpful with explanations and assistance. The less visible staff are so good at keeping things immaculate and prepared for service that it is hard to believe there are only 50 staff in total. 

The chosen sites that are part of the daily walks are what you would expect. The transportation to the sites is excellent. One minor flaw is the uneven quality of the presentations during the day walks. It may just be me. Some presenters use a style which may be more suitable for young students.  

The Chef , both in style and in substance was beyond reproach. His servers ( I am thinking mainly of Tracey) were very well prepared to answer questions about the menu. The waiters were very comfortable to discuss the available wines. Housekeeping staff were unobtrusive and perfect at what they do..

This is my second Viking Cruise ( China a few years ago). Keep at it Viking. You do a fine job.

Overall, my husband and I, and another couple we were sailing with, had a wonderful time. We learned so much about the french culture and about wine and lavender and just really got to explore with the included shore excursions offered on the tour. I would love to sail with Viking again, and we spoke to many that had either experienced the Grand European tour or want to next. I was very impressed with how everyone was really interested in getting to know others and how open and accepting the guests were. The tone is set by the staff and by the end of the cruise everyone feels like family.

This was the best cruise we've been on. The friendliness and helpfulness from everyone was amazing. Our captain was wonderful and spoke to us frequently. Nicholas, the program director, was very organized. All of our activities went very smoothly. It was great to have him out and about with us.

A very nice experience to see the south of France.  We enjoyed the visits to Beaune and Chataneuf du Pape the best; would have preferred more time in Beaune.  Due to low bridges along the river, the top deck was unavailable most of the trip.  All staff and service were very good.  We did Paris and Nice extensions.  Hotel in Paris had a great location near Opera metro.  Nice hotel was in front of beach; nice area next to old town.  Viking did a great job on transfer from Paris to Chalon.  Poor job from Avignon to Nice, bus air conditioning broke down and rode for 1 and 1/2 hours in an "oven", close to 100 degrees that day.  Viking agent at Nice not very helpful upon arrival.  Departure agent from hotel to Nice airport very helpful and timely. 

This was out 10th Viking cruise. It was fabulous, just like the other 9, which is why we keep coming back!

We enjoyed our fellow passengers. The cruise director apparently thought she was on a reality tv show (or that we were all deaf) because she yelled constantly and talked about herself. Cruise ship was often double parked, time ashore was limited, once the ship was parked down river and we had to walk a mile to take public transportation or wait til afternoon to get a ship shuttle to Lyon. When our ship was double parked, there were bright lights shining in our room all night long. Food was bland and tasteless, with a few rare exceptions. But, our room steward was fabulous!!
