Review summary

First sailing after being in dry-dock for a year. Ship was beautiful, but probably sailed too soon. Everything wasn't quite ready. However, given the Swine Flu, some plumbing issues, and cancelled excursions, the cruise was wonderful. The crew handled everything in such a positive way, excellent food, good service, GREAT beds and I really loved the Lanai room. Some passengers gripped about everything, but you can't please everyone! The people I traveled with were all very pleased and will definitely sail w/Holland America/Veendam again.

Ports of call

Too many vendors selling their wares. Too rushed when looking for emeralds.

Pros: The way Holland America/Veendam handled the changes due to the Swine Flu and the alternatives and solutions offered.

Cons: Missing Costa Rica - I was really looking forward to this excursion
