First time on a Tui cruise and it won't be our last, fantastic food, great range of drinks ( the £50 upgrade was well worth it too) lovely clean well kept ship. The staff were different class ten out of ten for them.
The entertainment made our holiday...they were brilliant
Embarkation
5 out of 5
There was a small queue which moved quickly, checking in was quick and efficient, before we knew it we were on board.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
We used the Gallery 47 and 47 restaurants for dining every evening except for the barbecue night. We thought the food was varied and to a high standard, the staff were friendly, funny and efficient.
We breakfasted in restaurant 47 too, simply because we'd rather be served our food together rather go in a buffet restaurant where one needs to guard the table while the other goes for food.
The breakfast served was excellent as were the staff.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
There were many on board activities for anyone so inclined, resting, eating and drinking were enough for us, Sandra really enjoyed her spa treatment.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
It's a pity there aren't 6 stars, the entertainment was brilliant, the shows were great, the ballroom dance duo in the Atrium didn't only entertain, they tutored too. But for us, the live room was fantastic, the talent and wit of Guy Harris on his yellow piano, the saxophonist ( apologies, his name slips my mind) was brilliant, Willian was a great guitar/ vocalist, the Midtown Trio were great but our favourites were Soundwave. There was music to serve most tastes, the time they did the band jam all together was awesome, that's when the term " boogie boat" was christened.
Children's Programs
We had no children with us, having said that, we were a little dubious about being overrun with kids considering it was half term. We couldn't have been more wrong, the kids must have been well entertained because they were no bother at all.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Again, a sixth star wouldn't be out of order, helpful, efficient, funny, and genuinely friendly.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The ship was laid out great, everywhere was clean and tidy, even the toilets
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Pleasantly surprised with the size, very comfortable and always kept clean.
Ship tip
What you put into something, you'll get out of it, take your tux and your posh frock for the 'dress to impress night' .
Whatever you do, don't think... " it's only a Thomsons(Tui) cruise, it'll be like a holiday camp", you couldn't be more wrong.
If you didn't upgrade and you wanted a better whisky or prosecco for example then you would be charged for the extra..the extra charges ranged from £1 to £6..the upgrade also allows you cans of soft drink and better wine for dinner.
With the upgrade everything is free except bottles of water from the bar for some strange reason.
Having said that, you get complimentary bottles of water in your cabin.
The £50 upgrade was just for one week. We thought it was worth it but it really depends what you drink. Some of the better spirits carry an extra price as do some of the better cocktails..also the upgrade includes coffee at the excellent coffee shop.
