Review summary

This cruise was a great way to get a taste of Indonesia and Christmas at sea.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Very well organised at Fremantle port.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Always ate at the buffet and no complaints. Great range and well presented and cooked.

Horizon Court

5 out of 5

Great food choices.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
I can not understand how people say there's nothing to do. Even if the organised activities aren't to your liking or it is felt there aren't enough of them, there are always 'activities' such as having a quick friendly chat with crew members. Personally, I really enjoy trivia and activities that require involvement, and there was usually something going on.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
J, a singer / guitarist was unbelievable.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Can't praise the crew highly enough. On this cruise, as on any, treating crew respectfully has benefits that you don't expect or look for ... apart from being the right thing to do.

Ship Quality

1 out of 5
The ship is aging, true, but it is still very functional. If people make an 'educated' booking then they know what to expect. Housekeeping and maintenance crew did a great job.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
My cabin was fine. Size, cleanliness, location and facilities were what I thought they would be as I selected it personally.

Ship tip

Make the most of what the ship is and not what you think it should be.

Fremantle (Perth), Australia

Easy to navigate

Lombok Island, Indonesia

5 out of 5
Great. Went on a motorcycle with a local, not to touristy places but to mix in with locals.

Komodo Island, Indonesia Did not visit port

Have been to the island on four previous occasions.

Makassar, Sulawesi, Indonesia

5 out of 5
Again, went around with a local, and found great things on and off the well travelled tracks. Modern city in some areas, traditional in others. Loved it!

Semarang, Java, Indonesia

2 out of 5
Another port and another adventure with a local. Covered a large part of the city from the traditional Dutch settlement to the shopping areas to the back streets.

Probolinggo, East Java, Indonesia Did not visit port

Itinerary changed.

Bali, Indonesia

A Balinese crew member kindly offered to show me around. Again, avoided the tourist areas and went 'local'. Loved the foods.
